Oh, I don't care. Just send me your units and I'll do them. I do have work/family time constraints though. I know that it's summer so I will try to have a fast turn around.

I didn't post this as a money-making opportunity. I would have sooner kept it secret and sold the goods on Ebay.

I will try to help whoever needs it.

One last thing. Lets save the props for the people who really deserve them, like sdpatt, projectSHO89, jthomas68, rangerj, Beth for giving us the forum, and everyone like them that keep us on the road. It's not that big a deal.

Send me your old and new units, and make a donation to the forum. I don't have converted units to just trade out. I have a 2001 unit that I've converted that looks like our original ones, but that one will be going to Ebay. I have over $100.00 in this one.

I will try and post a procedure for older (pre-93) units this week. I'll go to the bone yard and grab one from a 92.

I'll be in Atlanta on business the week of the 16th, so if anyone has a desperate need to have me do this, I would have to have the units by Wednesday at the latest.

Ha ha - there's the trick- Most Fords sold in Germany during that era didn't even have Air Conditioning, not to mention an automatic control... I've kept an eye out at the American junkyards but no luck so far..

I'll be in the states in July though and be hitting the 'yards..

Send me your unit with cracked buttons and a unit with good buttons, and make a donation to the forum. I simply wrote the procedure, but I have no more parts than the next person.

And until I get my hands on an older EATC, I will only do units that look like the ones that I described in the procedure. That is with two eight-pin ribbon cables.

I might be having a brain fart, but if I already had a unit with solid buttons, why would I need to send you my unit with cracked buttons when I could simply put the one with the solid buttons (the ones you see on ebay that fit right in) in my 92?

A lot of the units that you buy won't work in our cars. Some are plug and play, many are not. This mod if for those of you that have units that keep the fan on high at all times, or those of you that want to use a newer type of EATC. I did not post this procedure offering my sevices to go out and purchase new EATC units so that I could upgrade everyone with a SHO!

Purchase one like the one that is shown in my first post and install it. Then you will understand what this is all about.

The name of this thread is "Yes, YOU can use any EATC." You, not me. I simply posted a procedure that would enable you to modify different EATC units to work in your car. I really have no interest in building units for anybody. I will help, and will do some, but this will be the exception. If you read the whole thread it should be evident that this procedure is for you.

I have no parts, no inventory, and very little time. If you can buy a hard button unit that already works, that would save you some work. But now you should have the ability to buy any unit you want, and make it work. But don't buy units with the belief that this thread is based on sending the units to me to do your work.

Once again, I will do some, maybe one a week as favors. But please read the whole thread first and then post. This thread has nothing to do with me doing the work.

Ok i'm stuck on the 93 thing(on 93 or before?), I have a 1993 SHO right now with broken EATC buttons, I just want to get things straight.

Any 93+ EATC will clip right into the face of a 1999 Crown Vic EATC or rounded style button EATC of the newer Ford's? I just buy a newer EATC unclip the face and clip into my 93 EATC?

BTW you have any speed tips on removing the whole EATC unit from the dash? Or do you still take off all of the dash trimming etc? I havent done this myself so I would like some help on removing the EATC, on what to remove screws etc.

It's an electrical mod, so it requires a bit of soldering. But in a nutshell, any 93+ EATC and any 93 to present EACT can be made to work together.

Removing the EATC is easy. It's all held together with Torx screws. Two right above the instrument cluster, and two under the steering wheel. Pull off the light control **** and remove the nut. Then slide your fingers around the dash bezel to remove the clips. The EATC is held in with 4 Torx.

Hmmm. Never laid hands on one of them. It sure would be fun to try and make it work. I'm not convinced that it would look good in our cars though.

Is it physically the same size as the other units? I'd also like to know if it connects up the same way.

I absolutely love this style EATC. It just looks like it belongs, and makes an outstanding difference to the interior. But the answer to your question is completely subjective.

Any EACT in this style looks great.
