So I assume that the people in the video were invited to the unveiling of the 2013? Next did any of those invited include anyone that owns one of the new SHOs? Please don't make anything out of these questions...just wondering if any of the current Gen 4 owners from the forum were invited? However, let me say that I thought the folks in the video did a great job.

Kirk owns one of the first 2010's sold ;)

I do believe that some Gen4 owners are going to "carry the torch", but how many of the current Gen4 owners are going to be here 10, 15 or 20 years from now?

I know I probably won't be here 20 years from now...but that's simply a function of age, heck I'll be luck to be alive in 20 years! So if I die does that mean it will be held against me for not being loyal to the SHO Forum? :laugh_ti:

This is what Ken Mallinson, the President of the SHO Club posted on the V8 List earlier tonight:

Ford contacted me and asked me to put together a group for the New York Auto Show. As I was busy and couldn't make the trip, I asked Kirk to put together a group to go and represent the club.

They were invited to the Tuesday (4-19) evening concert with the band Train, and then a early Wednesday (4-20) morning showing from Ford of the debut of the 2013 Taurus & SHO.

I *really* wish I could have gone, but just didn't have the time to drive or budget to fly.

Cool, too bad you couldn't make it. I'm kinda jealous that I wasn't on the invite, although I really have nothing to do with anything concerning the SHO other then being a Gen IV owner. As I said previously, I thought the guys in the video did a great job. It's not easy speaking in public and even harder when someone sticks a video camera in your face. So I think everyone who is in the video deserves congrats, they looked great and did a great job speaking about the new car! I think they should get two thumbs up for the good job!

I was formally invited to attend the reveal of the 2013 in New York, but unfortunately was not able to commit to attending.

Primarily due to my night shift schedule and the wife's day shift schedule..... with 3 kids in tow, I'm typically on "Daddy Duty" and taxi them around to their various activities.

But man oh man, I really wish I could've attended.

Very sorry you couldn't make it, you would have been a great additional to the group. Understand your schedule being a pain....I had the same problem before I retired. Still having trouble a year after stopping 3rd shift of sleeping all night. I too did the "Daddy Duty" thing, don't do it anymore...my son is now a college kid, who wants to take the SHO without me!

Oh, and BTW, when you report a thread to ask that it be closed, saying that it's *** just reflects badly on yourself and helps ensure that the thread won't be closed!

I asked for this thread to be closed and deleted because yet again in the Gen 4 section another thread has turned into a multi gen flame war troll fest thread and thats pretty *** (and just incase I do not mean to offend homosexuals who may find that offensive)

thanks. although i was not one of the ones interviewed, i was among them and i was nervis as **** about the interview. Im also sure the rest of them felt the same way. I feel very lucky and honored to have been invited, it was something else! I do have to say that i spoke to one of the head guys from ford involved in both the sho and the slo and he was very interested in what i had to say (being a gen2 guy) about how I felt about the revisions, and what i thought could have been done a little different. And after about a 15 min coversation he went right along to the next one of us and showed the same respect. I would have never thought that these guys would care what a young guy (like myself) had to say about a brand new car, but i was wrong, and that has now gained my loyalty for many years to come. Again great job to EVERYONE that was involved in the revision, and thanks

Personally, I don't care about the debates and "wars" between the generations as I always liked the Gen II best and always disliked the Gen III. And since I could get my 556hp CTS-V with a manual, I'm happy with that.

But this community is about the people and the meets and Conventions reaffirm that. If you've never been, sorry. If you have no desire to go, I'm even more sorry for you. Ford, indeed, got much of the info on what customers would desire in a new SHO from Gen I, II, III owners and past owners. Gen IV owners benefit from that now. They can be thankful or they can do their own thing and never acknowledge the input from previous SHO owners. In time, they'll sell off and take their attitudes, good or bad, somewhere else. We'll still be here giving Ford input as long as they'll listen...

Couple of things here.

First off, I as Ken posted was in charge of getting the gathering together for Ford, It was in NYC and Expensive to get in and out of. I took Most of whats left of NESHOC and invited other members that have not attended any of the PRE 10 stuff, the 10 Reveal, plant tours ect ect.. I wanted to make sure that long time members got to something special.. I also invited Gen 4 members that were OVERLY active  and someone that will be in the group for the long haul.. The 10 reveal had people that were not active invited which almost incited a riot amongst some longer active members. All went pretty well..

EVERYONE needs to stop with the battles.. UNK Driver, next time just ask in a nicer way so you dont get run over 10 times, dropped kicked and thrown in the well for Lassie to come save you. The way that you asked was kind of ******... This group of new owners has got to just take your licks like your going to a new school, the bullys are going to hit you.. Either fight back or bring them beer to the National SHO convention.. See www.shoclub.com for details.

My Canadian friends are some of my best friends! I met them by messing with them and telling them to attend the conventions.. And to tell you the truth, 90% of my friends are SHO owners that I have met over the last 20 years of ownership. This is such a great group of guys that even the vendors get along and get hammered together under the same tent, rental car or stolen crane.

Plus guys we only have a short time to get 10-11-12 owners together so we can bash the heck out of the "13 or gen 5" owner class that will be joining us soon... This rivalry has happened with each Gen, and in this thread alone there is only one other person that can say that they have been around to see it other than me.. (its the old crotchety guy called Ron Porter).

Ps. Gen 1-2-3 owners all think that Jason (Yamahasho) is a ******, so there is your chance to join this family of misfits!:laugh_ti: Kidding of course we think much worse things just can put them on here..

Do you really think these minor changes warrants a "Gen5" designation? It seems like the changes are about the same as the 92 and the 95 SHO.

I would consider a 92 a gen1.5 as it has some of both gens in it as I would call the 13 a gen 4.5 as it will have attributes of 10,11,12 along with the upgrades.

Fly cross-country just for that show??

That was the primary reason, and the other reason was to help Archer install his mirrors on his truck :laugh_ti:.

Today is my last day, and I'm sad to have to go home. The BG basement suite bed is very comfortable!!

It's all about the chalk lines being accurate, dude is HUGE!!!
Yes there was Gen IV people there, I've done things to some of them when the've fallen asleep outside. I was convinced by ALL that I want a 2013, but I think "Angry black man" should have got some face time.
AFAIC blah blah gen IV blah blah car age means nothing, it's the people.
Yeah that wasn't going to happen after Terri stole my talking points. You had to see my face, it looked like she stole my lunch money. :frown:

i am realy getting tired of this gen1,2,3 vs gen4 ordeal. It seems like there is always tension between us. So everybody put down whatever you have against one another and get along. If you dont have anything nice to say dont say it, you should had learned that when you were a kid. There should be no reason that somebody who owns a gen4 would feel uncomfortable about posting in open forums or the gen 1,2,3 sections. same goes with gen 1,2,3 guys posting in the gen 4 section.

Right on Zach; This rift seems wider and wider all the time.

To me it's some of the original members (read Gen 1, 2, and 3) who seem to feel superior than some of us lowly newbs in Gen 4 who should not rock the boat -- or even appear to as Unknown_Driver did with his attempt at humour.
That just doesn't seem very fair to me. (poor baby huh ;))

If some of you guys want us to feel more at home then please stop with the defensiveness and barbs back at mistaken and misunderstood comments -- wouldn't it make more sense to clarify at least first and show a little sugar than taking a defensive posture and make everyone feel uncomfortable?

Personally I look at attitudes and whether I'd feel welcome at an event such as a convention b4 making the effort to go, and I'm pretty sure many members here feel the same way.
I'd love to go, given the opportunity, and meet a lot of you and have some fun -- y'all sound like a great bunch for the most part.

The same can be said for comfort level here too, right.

I'm done with the soapbox -- and throw all the negs you like my way too if that's what turns your crank, matters not to me, but what I've said is from the heart and meant to be constructive and helpful in getting along better.

It's what I want, and many of us want here, and hope it's what you want too. :)

FFT for anyone who cares,

Sincerely and without prejudice from another newb from the north,

Not necessarily one's fault DJ, however, more often than not, when the Gen4 owners do venture outside of "our" section.....

The "older" members jump all over us and tell us to "stay in your section".

Can't say some of us newbie's don't try to comingle, but I forgot, there seems to be a double standard around here.....

The older guys can come and do as they please, but the newer guys need to stay corralled in their Gen4 playpens.

It's get'n kinda old really..... :deadhorse:

Thanks Zach, this was the point I was trying to make. We are all here because of the similar interest we share. That should be the basis on which we communicate. We can't let the few "flamers" dictate the direction of us all. The overall point is that it is, through the joining of us all, how our community becomes stronger. All of us need to see that we are all members of the same family. This way we can all share in the past, present and future of these exceptional vehicles. :salute:
