I have some questions about Xcal 1 & 2. I currently have an Xcal 1 with Doug's (FPS) 93 oct tune(+ shift fimness). I was told that this program would be fine with 91-93 octane(+ 5 deg spkadv), but I definetly have some spark knock under heavy load with 91 octane. It's not excessive but faintly audible. I also have TCC lockup @ full throttle in 3rd gear at about 4500 rpm(while no lockup occurs in the factory format).
If anyone has a similar flash, are you having these issues?
Also, I understand the Xcal 2 is much more user compatable as far as tuning goes. What options does the user have and does it store and flash programs? Who is using it and what do you think?

Sounds like you need to contact Doug to make some adjustments to your tune.

As far as the XC2 goes, the user has the option of making changes to the tune provided by the dealer. However, the changes available for end user manipulation are up to the dealer / software. The newest XC2s have allow the end user to make adjustments on the device in real time. Older models must be changed using a client side software (Extreme Tune and / or Live Load)

I have no clue. I haven't been driving with my tune because the car develops a moderate knocking when on any program, even if i change the a/f or dial back the timing. I have to talk to Doug about this.

When I plug my unit into the OBD2 port, I can select a tune, then it will give me the option to change some parameters, that Doug has chosen. I can change spark, WOT a/f, rev limits, idle speeds, fan controls, WOT shift points, and shift press (I'm assuming this is firmness, I haven't messed with it because I think it shifts perfect on his tuning.)

I think the Xc2 is great because of the adjustments you can make. I do not believe that there is a one-program-fits-all type of chip or tuner for any car, but this is the next best thing.

The changes I have made which has helped the knock subside (it only knocks when cold) are:

0-2000 spark: -4 degrees
2000-4000 spark: -2 degrees
4000-8000 spark: -1 degree
WOT air/fuel: +2% richer
Rev limit (drive): unchanged (7000)
Rev limit (neut.): 3000
Idle speed (drive): unchanged (700)
Idle speed (neut.): unchanged (656)
Low speed fan: unchanged (210° F)
High speed fan: unchanged (220° F)
WOT shift 1-2: +3mph (shifts at around 48)
WOT shift 2-3: +4mph (shifts at around 80)
WOT shift 3-4: unchanged (who cares, 4th gear sucks.)
Shift presses: unchanged

OEM.

It runs fine on the stock program, and on the fps program, but only once the engine heats up a little.
