You really don't probably need a PIN to buy X Plan. X is above dealer invoice. Tell them you can get an X-Plan PIN (because they are easy to get they won't even challenge you).

They will give you the price, which again is above dealer invoice slightly. More or less they are telling you what you can buy the car for with some haggling. And if you play nice with them and ask if they need you to get a PIN called in they very well say - don't worry about it since it is still above their invoice.

When A/Z plan purchases happen tho that PIN is a must as the sale price is below dealer invoice and FoMoCo pays the dealership some back.

Here's the deal with X-plan. I was trying to find a good way to explain it when I found this excerpt on another site:

1. X-Plan doesn't mean a good price -- just a fixed price. I (or anyone really) was able to negotiate under X-Plan pricing even on an 08 pre-order. I got an X-Plan quote from one dealer, showed it to another and he offered me $150 below the X-Plan price.

2. The X-Plan can become a good deal if there is a particular incentive at the time of purchase you can apply on top of X-Plan. In that regard it's better to use X-Plan rather than just a negotiated deal if you foresee using any lease incentives or discounts.

3. The X-Plan calculators and sample invoices from Ford sites are deceiving. "Invoice" includes non-invoice items like regional advertising fees.

Get it soon.

Kona blue is on it's way out, along with many other colors. There is some mineral that 90% of comes from Japan that goes to many of our colors. And it is not currently being mined.

To: All Ford and Lincoln Dealers Subject: EFC00183DC Supply Chain Update - Japan As a result of the devastating situation in Japan, we are monitoring the impact to our people, supply chain and overall business as details continue to rapidly progress in the region. We have recently been made aware of a supply chain issue that will disrupt the supply of pigments for some of our paints.

We have not changed our production plans, but we are adjusting future scheduling for some paint colors as a precautionary move to ensure we have maximum supply. Colors that are affected in the near-term include:

Tuxedo Black
Royal Red
Red Candy
Red Fire
Scheduling

Scheduling has been suspended for Tuxedo Black at Dearborn Truck (F-150) and Kentucky Truck (Super Duty, Expedition and Navigator) for production during the week of April 4. NOTE: Tuxedo Black production at Kansas City will continue for the near-term.
We will limit the scheduling volumes of the Red colors at Kentucky Truck, Michigan Assembly (Focus), Ohio Truck (Econoline), Twin Cities (Ranger) and Tuxedo Black at Chicago (Explorer, Taurus and MKS) in this week's scheduling run.
We do not anticipate a loss of production at this time, as a result of this situation.
We will keep you informed as details progress, as the situation in Japan continues to evolve at a rapid pace. If you have any questions, please contact your regional sales manager.

Thank you for your support and business in this challenging environment.

Regards,

The only way X plan works better than straight ol' negotiating is if there is an in-house 0% financing for 60, 66, or 72 months that you can take advantage of and also get a few grand off sticker without trying.

Was with retired Ford Exec last night. He says FORD subsidizes x-plan, but just less than a-plan. If you have a trade, dealer can still give you x-plan in paperwork, and just give you a better deal on trade purchase. Ford's x-plan is much better deal than GM "friends" plan, because Ford has more margin built into their retail vs real cost prices. Have used both!
