Show me a V6 SHO with 450 FWHP that they did NOT have to dump money into the trans and suspension on. For some reason, people think they will get a V6 and be turbo'd or supercharged within a few months and everything will run fine and perfect.
Reality is any SHO is not Mod friendly by your standards. Add up the costs of a V6 SHO, now add in maintenance, suspension upgrades to support your 450WHP, built tranny, oh, and your FI motor costs, tuning........
It adds up quick.
The point I am trying to make is the SHO is not a racecar. Never has been, never will be. Enjoy the car for what it is. Yes, they can be made to go faster, I know, trust me, I have seen more than one and have driven more than one. But the mods for the V6 are not as plentiful as one might believe. Achieving 450WHP form the V6 SHO is not a nickel and dime bolt on mod car.
The Gen III can be mated to a manual tranny, is easier to tune and we have two successful supercharged cars now in the V8 world. There is plenty of information out there on the Gen III if you wanted to turbo one. It is more refined, classier and IMO, better looking than a Gen II. Gen I's I have a soft spot for.
What do I know though. I have only been involved in SHOs for close to ten years. My father has built many a race car too, put him in front of an SHO and he will scratch his head. Yes, it has a nice engine, decent power, but it is wrong wheel drive and heavy.
