wot/shifting issues

i just bought a '95 sho with an auto about 3 weeks ago and i'm slowly learning about this car. right now i am having problems of it shifting from 1-2 at wot. it just hits the rev limiter until i let off the gas some. what could be wrong for it to do that?

how does it shift at part throttle?

sometimes it feels like its slipping from 1-2 shift, other times its smooth, and still other times its a real hard shift.
