anyone able to tell me how to do this? i'd like to use a switch like a window switch or antenna switch from some other model, so that you can tap it to go up or down (heck even having to hold it would be ok). i've seen it done with a toggle switch which seems easier cause you just wire it into the aux on wire from the HU, but is there any way to wire it using this different type of switch? ie, so i could use a stock looking switch/button rather than a toggle switch?

As far as I can figure/see You'd just need to get a switch (instant spring loaded) and mount it somewhere. Then take the signal wire, cut it, take it to one side, then hook it to the other side. I remember my old Lincoln Mark VII LSC had a switch for the antenna, and my old T/C did too.

hm let me rehprase and reword what im looknig for exactly... currently the antenna is connected to the AUX on from the back of my aftermarket HU. this makes it go up when the HU is on, and down when the HU is off. i basically want to put in a switch that blends in with the interior but does the following: allows me to put the antenna up and down at will when the HU is ON, does NOT go automatically up when the HU is turned on, but still retains the function of lowering the antenna when the HU is turned off.

basically cause i use the HU mainly with my ipod so i would want the antenna down for that, but if i choose to switch to the radio, i could put it up by use of this switch, and then when i turn the car off, the HU turns off, and the antenna goes down.

i'm looking for more of a "cut this exact wire and attach here" or pics/writeup or similar type of help, thanks!

I have a toggle switch in my car, and it does exactly what you mentioned. Only thing is that many decks' wiring are different, so it's kinda hard to tell you exactly what to do.

I did what ect1006 mentioned. Works perfect for me.

its the switch itself that im questioning, id like to use something that looks like a window up/down switch or the like, but thier wiring is a bit more complicated than a toggle that switches between connected/not connected. i need an explanation of the actual switches i could use that could perform this toggle function, but resemble a window switch rather than a flip lever

something like this...
