Ok before anyone says i need to search... i did... and i really couldnt find what i was looking for... basically in WI you can have a 35% rear and 50% front tint legally... i know some states are different with this... and i am wondering what you guys do... im not worried about being insanely dark... but im not sure what a 50-35 combo looks like and how good a mis-matched tint looks... i was wondering since 35 is pretty light tint still... (and i would probably have my window down if i got pulled over) i could probably get away with that, right?... so if anyone has pics of different tints (mostly 50-35 combo and 35 all around) i would appreicate it if you post them... also my car is green so i think the tint would look darker than on say a black car... whilst still being legal...

This is one of my old cars, and it was a 35/50 combo. From the side it was obvious that the front doors were slightly less dark, and from the rear and rear 1/4 angle, you couldn't tell.

From past experience, 35% is the max I'd go personally, as anything more back there, I have a really hard time seeing well at night.

I'm sure someone has a better pic, but this is the only one I had left...

My 93 is 35% all around....I will be changing it soon to 20% I think because 35 to me is way too light but NE has different laws.

OR...for the NON law abiding you can get 15% all the way around like I have on my 95

Does anyone have pics of 25%? 20 seems dark and 35 seems to light, 25 sounds good though.

Also, I don't want to whore up this thread, but how much should it cost to tint out all 4 doors and the 3 back windows? I asked the guy that comes in to our dealership and he quoted me $235. I thought that seemed a little high.

I got my 15% for $180, I knew the guy but I was told around $200 for that normally. For 25% you shouldnt have to pay more than $160 I would think.

Remember that if you have to get any tint removed, ESPECIALLY the REAR window, most likely you will get charged. It is advised to let the tint shop remove the tint since almost always the average joe will ruin the defrost.

$220 is not a bad price to pay for the whole deal if they are removing tint also. It was $120 for me + $99 for the rear window removal.

^ Oh then it would be mucho-easy. 25% looks great on these cars, it blends right in with the black molding trim around the windows.

See if you can find somewhere cheaper for 220 unless you are comfertable for that.

Dan, I don't ave any more pics if that car. I had to get them from the person I sold the car to a while back. I had 20% on the back of my last 2 cars, and I'd never go that dark again, it was way too hard to see behind me when I was backing up at night. I had to look out my window when backing up if it was a dark location. I thought that I had a decent looking car without sacrificing safety. (But that isn't a knock to anyone else, I just had a hard time personally)

I think mine was $200 for all of my SHO's, which was for metallic lifetime non-fade/purpling tint (Llumar) any shade, single piece rear window. That isn't a bad price- they are tinting 7 windows...

This was another old ride, and this one was 20% all around, and apparently a cop magnet.

Theres no way to tell for sure but I would be willing to wager that you wouldnt have any problems with 35% all around. Different light angles and amounts during a day can make tint look totally different and having a window cracked can even allow enough light in to change the way the windows look...Id say go for it

My gen2 PGT has 35 on the doors and cops haven't said anything about it. I'm in VA, which is also 50/35. The difference between 50 and 35 is hard to tell unless you have a luminometer or whatever the **** it is they call those.

I wouldn't count on it. They will more likely than not clock you as you go by, or see the car at some point. Rule of thumb in Michigan is that you are less likely to be harassed if the fronts are lighter than the rears. Not a rule per se, but I know several officers, and they admit that. Not to say you won't get pulled over for it by an irritated officer.

50/35 looks way better than 50/peeled off after getting caught or worse yet- 50/I'll leave the 4" strip on the top of the window even though it looks horrible...

I havn't dealt with LUMAR but I did use 3M and it also has the same garentee that it will not purple or fade/distort or w/e. My rear window is a full sheet, not pieced together with multiple strips. I paid about 220 so if it has a garentee that it will not purple or fade or anything then I feel it's worth it. Ask to see some photos of finished cars and if you can see some cars that they are working on in their shop.

Yep Joe posted a pic of my car. In a way, I'm glad I got pulled over for the tint. 15% all the way around is just way too dark, I had to roll down my window's many times. I have to admit, it did look good.
