I have another(yes I searched) strange problem with my drivers window(93MTX).

When I got the car, the drivers window would work fine. Shortly after, I noticed it starting to hesitate before going up. Then one day, I rolled it half way down to pay a parking lot attendant, and after the transaction, the window would not go up.

I rolled the window down a little more, and tried again to roll it up. It worked.

Since that day, the window would almost always hesitate going up. I was always able to get it to go up if I played with the button.

2 weeks ago, I rolled it down to swipe my card to get access to a parking lot and it would not roll up even if I played with the button...I had to whack the door with my hand...yes!...that worked. I figured that the motor had sticky brushes that were not contacting.

The next day, I had the same problem. Whack the door to make the window go up...that lasted 2 days. Then...

About a week and a half ago, I started to roll up the window and it stopped half way...that had never happened. Once it got started, I was golden...not today. I figured it was time for a new motor...not a good time...it's raining...getting cold...blah blah blah.

So I took the motor out and hooked it up to my favorite handheld 12v power source(dewalt drill battery). The motor is moving like a champ...and looks nice and clean....Hmmm. I put the motor back in and successfully hotwired the dewalt battery to the connector....backwards....and the window went up without any laboring or hesitation. I do think that I heard it snicker at me a little bit...:oogle:

Anyways...the motor is fine...the switch is fine. The window will go up using the switch if I plug it in backwards and press the "down" button. I get 12v from the switch in both directions in case someone wants to say its the switch...I replaced it. It's still boo-boo.

Am I looking at a wire harness problem or an express down module issue?

OK so I got home and stole the express down module from the black car and now the window works fine...up & down.

Whoda thunk that an express DOWN module would cause the window to not go up??!

If you will open-up the module, what usually fails is the large black capacitor (relative to other items on the PCB) that's slightly larger than a pencil eraser. They usually fail due to the wire-leads from the bottom of the capacitor rusting-through.

If you're electrically inclined and have a steady hand . . . . , you can try your hand at replacing the capacitor . . . .

The little black box was the last conclusion my friend and i came to on his 95. First we changed the motor...no luck, then the switch ...no luck (however it did finally make him fix the window lock button so all of the others can go down). So now...to change the box, or replace the capacitor

OK...it's the little gray NEC relay.

One of the 5 solder joints on the back has separated from the board. So...the component did not fail...the workmanship did.
Bah...Made in Canada!

Are you going to try to re-solder it? I would be curious as to whether that fixes the problem.

Did you take any pictures of the top side of that PCB that you can post?

Also, what digital camera did you use to take those shots? That image came out really clear.

I'm sure soldering will fix it. I haven't tried yet.
The camera is at work. It's an HP 5.0 MP.
