ok... I put in new foglights(navigators) from walmart in. It uses 55watt h3 bulbs, and well...i just did a quick job type deal so it will pass inspection. The passanger side harness to the foglights never did work. So i ran seperate 10ga grounds for each light, in short distance-to the frame, and then wired the hot(red) wires to just the driver side connector(that plugs into the foglight, spliced into it) ...im wondering if this will last if lets say... i turn em on one day and accidently leave em on. I tried finding the relay near the battery, but had no luck, and also could not find any pictures. I was thinking maybe just running the wire straight to the switch in the car??? If anyone can help me with this, please do :hail:

I dont think a 55w bulb would melt the harness. But as they said, do it right, then you KNOW it wont. Personally, i would use the stock swith in the car in order to switch an aftermarket relay. Then upgrade to a 70w bulb for some more light.

How do you wire in relays???? What do they do, they take the wattage or something instead of the switch?? i do want to do it the right way, but like i said... it was gettin dark out, and i HAD to get them working just so itll pass inspection (very picky up here in Mass!)

Sounds like your feeding both bulbs with the supply to one bulb. It will melt or burn the wires up. May not be today but in time it will. Just trace the issue back on the other side so that you feed the lights individually the way they should be and they will be fine.

Then a relay might be your best plan of attack. A relay will take a small amount of current from a switch wire your current fog light feed. And switch power on from another source such as your battery. So one post on the relay will be switch wire from fog light wire. Another will be ground. The other 2 will be the feed to the battery + and the other will go to your fog lights.
Starter solenoids are just big relays if you know how they work.
