Who will work on an SHO?

It sounds like the noise is at the top of the engine. I wonder if it's one of the cam chains hitting the valve cover. Did you try putting a screw driver on the ends of the valve cover to isolate where the noise is coming from. I haven't had that sound on my cars yet so maybe someone else can chime in.

@zoomlater i really appreciate your help but i am past the diagnostic phase. Believe me, there is nobody who wants to avoid pulling the engine more than me! One cylinder only makes 35 pounds compression even after soaking it for weeks, and it puffs out the oil fill hole when running.

The interior of the car is immaculate. Much better than the '94 interior i owned in 2008. The exterior has some dings. I am tracking down parts. The rest of the body is great. It's a beautiful car worth restoring. I'm just intimidated by the quirky engine that got shoehorned into a taurus.
