Came home from work early to start the install... umm... how on earth does anyone access the fuses on a 16 taurus? Took me 10 min to find them and i cant imagine being able to test, let alone replace, a fuse in the position i need to be to even see the box.

Also, no cover on the box?

Wtf? Am i going to have to pay a shop to do this? Ffs..

I had my installer do it while I was there for something else. After seeing him contorted under there testing, soldering, etc it was worth every penny.

Think that's bad? Try changing the cabin air filter on a 2014 Focus ST! You practically have to get upside down (Stranger Things! :nut:) to get the filter changed. The genius engineers decided it needed to be behind the center stack at the bottom with the BCM right beside it!

My Altima is like that not only is it a dozen screws to take the the glove box out and it's buried up by the firewall but the opening to remove it is half as wide as the filter

You win *********. ~$140 quote from car audio store.

You can bend that way I am 6'2" and wide everywhere with bad back, it can be done. Patience is the key and a lot of swearing

And dont forget the tetanus shot!

Im punting. With a light and a multimeter and one hand (that fits) that also obscures my vision I feel like it will be a ****** job if i managed to do the work.

And tbh, with all the side airbags im wondering if having the wires professionally installed is the way to go... this is what you call "rationalizing defeat" Gentlemen

I lurked far too long on this purchase...

I just ordered the new'ish blackvue 750 2ch. I will hardwire it through the power magic pro.

For those of you who have hardwired, which fuse did you use?

Thanks

Same question here. Bought/installed my Garmin dash cam 45, parking mode cable and the mini-fuse tap kit, but I’m not having any luck getting it to power on with the hard wire kit. What fuse was used as the ACC and what was used for the BAT?

I’m not sure which circuit was tapped into. I had my installer do it since the SHO was having stereo work done anyway. He do tap under the dash. Honestly it shouldn’t matter much as most dash cams use very little power. I think mine has a .5 amp fuse.

Long story short, I failed last night after thinking about it this morning. With the wire taps, I put the original fuse in the correct location, but thought it would also allow power to the cam. I never added a fuse to the second slot, so no power was going anywhere! Doh!!! Going to add the second fuses and reinstall tonight.

If you have to run wires In areas of side airbags make sure your wires are behind or tucked in bottom part of weather stripping.

Got it installed and working perfect! I used the horn (slot 24) as my BATT for parking mode and the advancetrac/adaptive cruise/electric power assist (slot 34) as my ACC power to start the cam when I start the car.

Top fuse is 24 and bottom fuse is 34.

Back on the Thinkware F50, can that unit be hardwired into a vehicle.

I hate messing with batteries and/or a dangling cable to charge it or feed it power.

Meh, late choice to cancel my order today.

After a little thought, I'd prefer to have a 2 channel camera. One for the front and 1 for the back.

So I guess the search continues. 2 channel camera, sentry mode, hardwire capability, hit detection, etc...

What say ye'...oh great sho-wisdom?

I am happy with Thinkware and they do have models that can use their rear camera but im guessing pricing at that point may put you close to Blackview territory.

Figured I should share what the Garmin Dash Cam 45 is like. Haven't caught anything terribly exciting just yet. It's like after installing the camera, everyone learned to drive all the sudden... Just uploaded these and they are supposed to be 1080, but it seems to be 720 for whatever reason.
