ugggggggggggggg, i cant make up my mind for the life of me....

I've been close to pulling the trigger on the DR650 a couple times but i keep hesitating.
https://smile.amazon.com/Blackvue-D...286144&sr=8-5&keywords=dash+cam+blackvue&th=1

I get torn on if it is better to have only a front facing camera with best resolution or better to have a 2 channel system at the expense of resolution.
Get the 2 ch the video is still very usable better to have one sooner then later

I lurked far too long on this purchase...

I just ordered the new'ish blackvue 750 2ch. I will hardwire it through the power magic pro.

For those of you who have hardwired, which fuse did you use?

Thanks

Blackvue is the good stuff. It's my first dash cam but I'm happy with my Thinkware F50. I had my installer hardwire it so I'm not sure what wires he tapped, the draw is so low I doubt it's a big issue where you get power. He used to work at a shop that was across form a Tesla dealer and said they got a ton of referral business and one of his first dash cam installs was a Model X that was kept in a parking garage in NYC. 2-3 weeks after the install $20k worth of damage done by the garage all on camera. Hopefully I won't have to use it but I do feel better it's there.

I have the Thinkware F50 that I took out of my ST. Thinkware also makes one that has front and rear cameras. I just got a Samsung Gear 360 that I tested in the back window that, like the name says, gives almost a 360 degree view inside and out. I'm looking at getting the hardwire kit for the F50 to free up one of my power points and get rid of all that excess wiring .

Yeah, everyone says it to the point of it becoming cliche, considering you can get decent cams for <$100 these days, it will pay for itself many time over if you ever need it.

And if you don't need it (which is hopefully the case), you will still see some cool stuff with it.

I drive ~85miles roundtrip to work (mostly highway) and have seen some crazy stuff. I should have bought one a while ago.

The F50 will do parking mode if hardwired as well(you have to enable it in setting)

My commute is about25 miles but over an hour with traffic and not a single day goes by without me seeing at least one accident. This is the reason why I decided to get one.

I looked at that one too, it has good reviews as well, only went with the Thinkware for parking mode.

Once i get my blackvue up, i planned on getting one of those for the wife's explorer. Her driving is one of the reasons everyone should have a cam..

It's posted, but I'm lazy and it's 1:40am...

Anyways, which dash cam also includes the function of picking up vibrations? Aka, takes a picture/starts recording when the vehicle is parked to keep an eye out for people that mess with cars.

My ThinkWare does it. I had to tone it down, because it also saves incidents where an impact was detected while driving. It would set off an alarm at a railroad crossing or a small bump in the road.

Yes my Thinkware F50 does it, it has impact for continuous and parking modes and motion for parking(it will save if it sees motion without feeling a bump). You have to put the memory card in a computer and can change the sensitivities. I've been meaning to turn mine down as well.

Along with the mentioned brands, anything with "parking mode" should detect motion and start recording.

you will have to read reviews about the parking modes as one that does not buffer is kind of pointless (i.e. when it detects something you want the previous 5 or 10 seconds recorded). You will also need constant power so a hardwire (or battery pack) and some type of control to stop the battery from draining.
