My SHO currently is tough to start. It is not using coolant but smokes white a little at idle. I changed the front 3 spark plugs that were VERY worn. I'm about to change the rear 3. I additionally changed the CAS. I received the car in this condition and am trying to troubleshoot it.

Thanks!

CAS? Could you spell that out? I'm not familiar with a CAS on the SHOs... but ****, who knows; I've been wrong before.

White smoke on startup is usually one of two things: Leaky fuel injectors (easy) or worn valve stem seals/guides (hard). Try to figure out whether the smoke is unburnt fuel or burnt oil. The leaky fuel injectors would additionally explain the hard start as it will flood the cylinders with fuel.

Oh. We call it either the CPS (crank position sensor) or CKP (same thing). These parts have so many acronyms (SMA) that it's hard to keep track of...

Anyway, a bad cam sensor can also cause a hard start; it's located on the passenger's side of the rearmost cam. It's a little black hockey-puck shaped thing that's held on by two screws. Physical access can be tricky, but replacement itself is quite straightforward; remove old one, install new one.

Does anyone have a description or link of how to change the injectors?

I was going to run the codes, but Auto Zone said the car is too old to run diagnostics on with their equipment. I got a compliment on the car though when the guy went to look at it.

Ran the codes

Got
121 TPS- changed it and had no effect
327 EGR-

I'm starting to doubt its the injectors. I'm at a loss with what to do. I'm about to disconnect the battery and see if that resets or changes anything.
