Is there any place to get the little rubber shift boot that goes on the transmission shift shaft? Mine is completely destroyed and I don't want any gunk getting in there

I have not had any luck looking for this either. No sources for new boots. You will need to find something else that works or post in the WTB section for a good used one.

Or make your own with canvas, smeared on both sides with black RTV silicone. Use waxed paper to keep the silicone from sticking to the table top, and voila', you have a flexible, water proof boot material that you can sew with a sewing machine.

yeah I have not been able to source those boots at local auto parts stores or the internet for that matter. Make your own like offroadsho suggested, or find an intact one on a parts car or in a Junkyard.
