I know it has something to do with cooling, and it'sright before the heater core
I can't find it on rockauto, also the fan control and instrument cluster sensors are both accounted for, so I'm scratching my head on this one
Do I even need this one?

Looks like the EATC temp sensor. Keeps the blower motor from working until the engine warms up. Called a Cold Engine Lockout Switch in the electrical schematic. Distant memory says that it was only available with the pipe as an assembly.

Alright thanks, and definitely sounds like a sensor I don't need

Are you sure that's related to the cooling system and not the A/C system? That line that it's installed in looked more like a high or low pressure line for the A/C, which would make that sensor a pressure switch for the climate control. I no longer have an EcoBoost to go compare with, but that's a pretty typical appearance for an A/C line. Are you able to trace the line to see where at least one end connects? "Right before the heater core" could be one of the A/C lines to the evaporator core.

Eehhm......
Fist, this is for an 89, not an eco boost

Second, i actually removed the whole A/C system except for the pump, including the evaporator core inside and the A/C radiator

Long obsolete and as stated above, it only came as part of the pipe assembly.

Oops, yep, I should have checked which generation this was posted in. But as far as your second point, I'm not sure how anyone but you would necessarily know that your whole A/C system had been removed. I apologize for trying to be of some assistance.
