If I understand you correctly, all the air intake plenum bolts are M8 x 1.25 - 8 mm with a thread pitch of 1.25 mm. Length is 25 mm for most of them. The special bolts that run along the center of the plenum are much longer - 50 to 60mmm (I think). These you have to get from Ford at big $$$$, $25 each eek! or a complete set at $125 (I think).

Most of the bolts on the SHO not in heavy service (i.e. suspension, motor mounts, etc,) are M8 x 1.25.

Oil pan is M8 x 1.25 x 25.

Transmission bolts are M8 x 1.25 x 70.

You will fing a few M10 x 1.5 bolts on the upper part of the engine.

That has been my experience anyways.

Besides a good thread gage and a caliper, I find that using male and female thread chasers makes life a lot easier.

I've also been replacing all my bolts with ARP studs and nuts. (I prefer studs to bolts when you can substitute them because one can align an oil pan, etc., more accurately with studs. They can't be used everywhere because of clearance considerations.

The studs are broached and can be screwed using the 3mm female hex socket at the broached end. One should screw them in by hand and use the hex key for the remaining few mm or to remove them if they stick (alleviated by using a MoS2 thread compound). If you can't screw them in by hand, then the female threads need to be cleaned (chased) or the alignment is off. Never force them in; you need to fix the problem first.

ARP are now making metric studs in polished stainless steel. The stregth, quality, and finish of these bolts is phenomenal. Overkill and wickedly expensive. But they look great!

A ten pack of studs, bolts and washers M8 x 1.25 x 45mm (which substitutes for a 25mm long bolt; an extra 3/4" or 19mm for the washer and broached end of the stud is needed) lists at ... eek! eek! about $90 ... eek! eek!

You can special order them through Summit Racing for about $70 ... which deserves only one:eek:.

I believe the M8X1.25 is also the same thread as the rod shifter stabilizer bolt.If that is indeed the thread i need, great.I have a few feet of it in threaded rod form.It was VERY hard to find, not something i`d like to do again. What i need is the thread size for the (2) plenum support brackets in front.I don`t think the M8X1.25 is the same,it seems much larger, but i could be wrong.I don`t need to replace the two bolts,it`s for a modification i`m working on.

I have a bag full of spares for most of the bolts for the upper end of the engine that I bought at Pep Boys and a True Value hardwre store. Nothing special about them. Most are about $.19 to $.50 depending on diameter and length. The M8x1.25 in the 25mm or 30mm length for the intake brackets are about $.19 at Pep Boys.

The head is large on the bolts you mention for the support bracket, but the thread is M8 x 1.25. I replaced some of those support bracket bolts with ARP studs and nuts.
