Ive got General UHP's on my Civic.
Sticky:YES
Too much side wall flex:YES!

I agree with the sidewall flex, too much, but come on... they're like $75 a tire (last time I checked, which was a while ago). You have to ask yourself, what are you getting for the money? A lot, I think. Sticky and decent treadware more than makes up for sidewall flex in a $75 tire. Now if they were $175 a tire we'd have problems, but come on...

That's one of the reasons why I went with the P225/55 vs P215/60 configurations. Lower aspect ratio offers stiffer sidewall. I have found the flex to be no greater than what I have found in the past with Continentals or Kumhos. Again, for my $0.02, the General UHP's offer the best "bang 4 the buck" for a street-driven SHO. :salute:

I can't believe no one has recommended 225.55.16s.

I went with 225/55/16 Kumho Ecsta SPTs... won't be doing that again. They have great grip, but the sidewalls flex way too much. When I wear these out I'll probably go back to the stock size, which means I'll have to choose a different tire (can't get the SPTs in the stock size).

P225/55R16 is the best tire size for 16" factory-styled wheels. Work well with 6-7" wheel widths.

I'm REAL impressed with the BFG Traction T/A's Denny had on my car when I bought it...Very good handling, nice in the wet(well, till they got worn down LOL). I plan on either another set of those or the G-force like Vnuk, and a set of Star Spec Dunlops for autocross fun.

For street driving they are awesome!
I just happend to get a track day on these tires last month.
Even 205-50-15's had a ton of sidewall flex at 40 psi.

Awsome! To my understanding the black spokes are rubber as well huh?!

They are a special blend of plastic. They have been around for 10+ years, but they have never seen widespread acceptance for two reasons... appearance (My God, they're hideous) and noise. The spokes just make too much noise when compressed. From what I've read it becomes completely unbearable at north of 60mph.

I agree about General Exclaim UHPs. I ran them on both my cars and they were great. Can you get stickier tires? Yes. Can you get cheaper tires? Yes. Can you get a tire that meets both those categories? Not even close. The UHP is the stickiest tire you can get for under $150... I got my last set (225/55/16s) for $71 a tire. Brilliant!

DEFINITELY not true. The 615's and the Star Spec Z1's would absolutely destroy those tires.

i have the bfg traction t/a's (225/60/16 v98 rating) and they are good tires, they can be kinda loud sometimes.. mine only have about 18,000 on them and the front 2 are just about gone, part of the reason is when i rotated them i didnt think about the "directional" part of it and ran them backwards for about 8,000 to 10,000 miles OOPS.. and the back 2 are not far behind im thinking with as much driving as i do, by the time winter comes back around again ill need new tires and they were just put on right at the beginning of last august.

+1

And i would add the RS2 to that list. My last set were RS2s, I have 615s now. Both are great, and about as close you can get to street-legal track tires.

Last I checked the Star Specs were starting to creep up in price.

EDIT: In the Tire Rack test, they ran the UHP against other all-season tires. The only tire it beat was the RSA:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Exclaim+UHP (select tests)

And many of us know how "wonderful" the RSAs are!!
