I was working on my clutch pedal when I found a small electical rectangular bow about an inch long with a wire plugged into it. box says it a 9 volt supply. supply for what? is this original or after market? there is nothing added to this car as far as I know. could it be for the JBL system? I'm clueless. I'm afraid to unplug it. can't follow where it goes.

If it's connected to the clutch pedal then if you disconnect it more than likely your car won't start. wink Stock part.

To elaborate, it's the part that makes sure that you can't start the car up with the clutch pedal up. (aka so you don't lurch forward and bang into someone's knees :) )

no, it's not that. I see the switch for clutch safety switch. this box looks like if someone added an aftermarket radio on an alarm which this car does not have. maybe orig owner removed alarmm or radio before I bought car. when weather gets warmer, I'll have to track wire, see where it leads to. by the way, it's snowing today, here on Long Island, N.Y. Where are you spring!!!!!

Newer DVD system MUST be wired up to sense if your e-brake is in use if it is not then you can't play dvd's so maybe someone had a dvd player in it? shrug

Just out of curiosity....why? I'm not into these types of things in cars so it's all new news to me. :)

In My 95 i had to By-pass the ebrake to get the DVD player to work, therefore i had 2 switches

So you can't play it while driving? Probably the product makers way around a lawsuit.

Yep, you hit it on the head. The manufacturers put in a provision for the E-brake having to be on in order to have the DVD work. A jumper wire fixes it.

I don't know what that wire is.. But for those of you with screens ill tell you the easy trick..
Just tie the Green(what most of the brake sense wires are) in with the ground then you don't have to worry about a switch or anything.
