what is this wire connected to??

what is the small wire on the pos. battery cable. asking because if i unhook it, my car dies... just had the alt. rebuilt, so it should not be the problem; but on the other hand, when i take off the battery cables, the car still dies just like if the alt. was still bad. any advise??

If it's off the positive wire, then it's the wire going to your computer. Does it go back toward the firewall on the passenger side? Yeah. If you unhook that one, you'll **** the computer, which kills all signals going to your engine (spark, timing, all that good stuff) so your engine would die pretty quick. Leave that one alone, and make sure it's got a good connection to ground via a screw on the strut tower.
