not exactly sure how many ways you can pull the heads, i olny figured one.

take the intake off valve covers and unbolt the heads then pull?

you will need a allen key bit for the bolts on the heads. they are big.

dont forget the tq wrench

The front of the motor has to come off... T-belt, Gears, covers, etc....
not sure on other things....

BTW, you dont need a Tq bar to take the heads off.... just when you put them back on.... I think this is what he was implying....

the exhaust has to come off to(manifolds, and unbolt the ypipe)
oh, and the coolant blocks on the rear of the motor(tstat area).might as well pull them off...

You could possibly leave them on, but the Fuel rails/injectors and lines are added to the list.

I pulled a head off of an engine that was on a hoist... Pretty much everything that is bolted to the engine has to come off. Its a detailed process with many small steps. After i thoughti had everything off, i began to lift on the rear head and i found about 3 more small things i forgot to yank. PITA!

As with any car, pay attention to what you're doing, and be very organized, at least with all of your bolts and fasteners. Since I've never done heads on a SHO, I can't give you many specifics. But yes, timing belt needs to come off, as well as intake and valve covers. I see no reason why the exhaust manifolds could not be left on the heads to pull them, but the y-pipe must of course be unbolted. If at all possible(again, not too familiar with SHO head gasket replacement), try to leave the cams/caps, and the chain and tensioner in place, as it will save you alot of trouble setting the timing again.

If you haven't done it, while you have it torn down, be sure and do your 60k, along with any accessible oil seals, water pump, and T-stat. What better excuse?
