What is the best EEC for my 91 SHO? Currently I have the L0S I was thinking the way to go was the X2J (correct me if I am wrong) isn't that the EEC that everyone wants? Doesn't the twEECer turn a normal EEC like mine INTO an X2J? Help me out guys I'm a newcomer to the SHO world and have a few friends that would like to get the help also. :thumb:

Ideally, you want an X2J with an Intel (do a search) chipset for tuning compatability, not sure about the tweecer software changing the EEC. Plus, the name sounds cool so its gotta be good.

What is different about the X2J compared to the L0S? I mean my car has almost rolled over for the second time and it STILL runs like a ***** ape. I just would like to see how much of a difference we are talking. I figure its worth it but I'd also like to understand how it is better. Thanks!

eh brett just get rid of it......its a rusty 91..... :thumb:

on a serious note, i beleive for the manuals the X2J is the way to go. iirc, the x2j is tuned a bit more agressively than the los. and the intel chipset is tuned more aggressively than the motorola(i think) one

and can someone please correct me if im wrong.

I think this is a myth. At least one person I've talked to that's looked at the various computers' programming thinks they're all pretty much the same (i.e., all non-EGR MTX computers would be the same).

Its a complete myth, although the name still sounds much cooler. For the ease of compatibilty with a tuner, X2J is way to go; thats its only advantage. It by no means has more "aggressive" programming.

It's no myth. Technically speaking, the X2J is "better" than both the B9Bx and L0S PCMs, both in terms of programming and chipsets.

That said, though, one does not need an X2J computer in order to enjoy (or reap) the benefits of the X2J when a TwEECer is being used. The TwEECer will automatically use the complete X2J program (logic and all) when the unit is installed any V6 MTX computer (B9Bx, L0S, etc.), allowing '89-'91 users to reap the benefits of the X2J's programming without the added expense of purchasing another PCM unit.

So you could say that my $0.02 is this - hold off buying a replacement X2J if you plan to purchase a TwEECer down the road. ;)

See, this is what people say, but they can never elaborate further. Exactly what is better about the programming with the X2J? Different fuel curve, timing advance, what?

THANK YOU DAVE!

Thats exactly my question! I just want to know what exactly makes it better? I would like to someday turn my car into something more and if there is anyway to do it with an EEC upgrade I want to know which is the best one for me.

Have no fear, everyone. As soon as I get some free time (something that has been eluding me as of late), I will compile and post a brief comparative analysis of the programming differences between all the V6 MTX computers (B9Bx, L0S, and X2J). The same also goes for the L0S PCM thread that I promised to respond to on TechSHO a couple of weeks ago.
