A 97 sho engine, out of a wrecked car with 121k on it????? I'll make sure its good before I buy the engine, anyways, whats it worth price wise?:thankyou:
I paid about $1200 for a good running engine from a salvage yard in 2005. Last year I paid $200 for another engine (minus one head). As with anything, it is worth what the market will pay. I would think that the SHO market place is getting smaller every day. I'm not sure I would sink alot of money into it.
Make sure you try to rotate the crank to see how free it turns. Take the valve covers off to look for damage and sludge build up. Or at least shine a flashlight into the oil filler of the front head to check conditions.
I don't think I will buy another "project" SHO in the future, since Midnight Auto has decided to move away from them. (and I so need a '98)
