Hey Y'All!
Finally got everything taken care of on my '93 3.2L ATX concerning my leaky plug wells last week, :****: and now that i have been driving my car with the new parts and all, i have noticed a few things that seem, well, just wierd.
First, whenever i start the car after it's been sitting for more than 3 or 4 hours it cranks fine, starts up, and revs fine, but if my foot isnt on the gas after that intial rpm boost when the car starts the RPMs drop down to about 550-600, when it normally idles at about 1000-1200, it only stays there for about 3 seconds, as if the engine was reving in the wrong direction. After those 2 or 3 seconds it goes back to normal, however today, i put it into reverse while it was around 550 or so and the engine just turned itself off, it restarted fine, but it had never done that before. I've been getting the "EGR valve opening not detected" code, but the 'idiot light' (CE) doesnt come one untill i've been driving for about 5 to 10 mins, so could it just be a clogged EGR causing this?
Second, i've noticed that when coming to a complete stop my car seem dowshift roughly just before i stop. I'm not sure why it's doing it, but could it be caused by the torque converter being unpluged, It may have happened b/c i know i had to wrestle alot with the wires on the rear of the engine to get the back valve cover off, so I may have inadvertenly unplugged it.
Any other thoughts or ideas on what i might be able to do would be greatly apreciated, even though I dont think they're car threatening proplems, it just get agravating.
Side note- My O2 sensors have also been running lean, but I'm going to a Ford freind of mine soon to help me with that and the EGR.
