This is above the tranmission pan in the rear.

I put the 97 in the air today and found some traces of what I thought was tranmission fluid around the back part of the pan seal. Upon further inspection it appeared as it may have been leaking out of here. Is there an O-Ring or something in this tube that could be the culprit?

The tranmission is only 6k old, so I doubt the pan is leaking, but I'm not ruling it out. I've never seen a drop in my driveway. I wiped everything down today and will recheck in a day or two.

That's the tube for your tranny dipstick. There is an o-ring there, but I don't know the size. I've also never seen one leak. Any chance you got the tranny really hot recently? It's possible you blew some fluid out the vent, which is at the top of the tranny in about the same area.

I would have to say that the tranny got hot, (like what Mr. said) but maybe the seal there warped out.... but hey maybe its just a bad seal.... im not the GIII mechanic here though... so dont qoute me... :bonk:

That's what I thought it was. I would say there is about a 99% chance the tranny has not gotten really hot recently as it has been about 3 degrees here and I have the B&M transmission cooler. The transmission is a quart overfilled though since the shift kit recommends it, so I suppose anything is possible.

I wiped it down when I took the picture. I'm going to lift it up again to check soon. Thanks!
