I might as well confess and ask: what exactly does the abreviation, "DIS," really mean? I couldn't find a sticky talking about it. A parts house might actually want to know more than that when I begin calling in the morning.

I know where it is on the engine, but know little else about it except it must be problematic.

Cost?

Worth looking for wrecking yard DIS?

Thanks,
Dennis.....obviously learning....

Distributor-less Ignition System

If you can find one at a retail store it's going to be over $200

At a junkyard, about $10-$25 usually, if you can find a SHO in a junkyard that hasn't been taken off already.

you may call around to junkyards, the good ones pull those kind of parts and have them invintoried.

Hope you can find one, If not just look in the classified section.

Only the T-Bird Super Coupe uses the same module.

AutoZone calls it the Ignition Control Module. $129 in my area. # F147

+1, I know at least the 93 T-bird SC has the same DIS, the other tbirds in the same generation should have the same one.

And you better watch how you handle that DIS, it'll start crackin' yo momma jokes.

time out

Tricker, I sent you a direct email. Thanks for the offer.

Otherwise, Jason must head back here tomorrow in another rig for a job interview. The SHO is safe at his brother's and will now have to wait for us to re-group, do our homework, gather a collection of the important parts, and head back together to rescue the Ford.

At that point, I'm interested enough now myself, I'll trailer the darned thing back here in order to do things right.
