Theres 1 12v at the coil, the other three wires are trigger wires. You need to verify that all the triggers are working. To do so, you need to verify they have square waveforms. Otherwise, swap PCM and see what happens. If the timing is off, which is 100% possible from a bad/incorrectly tensioned timing belt, you need to verify the easy stuff first.

How could I verify the timing? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but other than making sure the timing marks are lined up I don't know how. How could I tell if the cams are 180 degrees off?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that if the cams were 180° off, the dot on the cam sprocket would be 180° off from the timing mark on the belt when everything was lined up. I'm pretty sure that if all your marks line up (and assuming all three sprockets have no play), your timing is good.

Yes, that would be correct now that I think about it......and they are all lined up.
I'm so ready to throw a match in the gas tank on this car.

This is probably a long shot, but what about the slave chains on the back of the cam? Could the one on the rear head have skipped a tooth? If you've ruled out everything electrical and ignition related, then I would think it would have to be mechanical. Just a thought because they ride on a plastic block on top of a tensioner that is either hydraulic or spring loaded. Good luck!

That's a good thought.....I'll have to check that out.

I just drove the car to shop for a guy to take a look at it. On the way there I got a CE light. I checked it, and it was showing a 157..mas signal low or grounded, and a 189...fuel sys lean at part throttle left or front ho2s fuel control.....
So.... maybe this will help in the diagnosis??

Where are you in the great state of IL?

Just south of the Quad Cities. I took the sho to a mechanic who specialized in SHO's and SuperCoupes at a ford dealership. Hopefully he can figure something out......I'll have to keep you all posted.

Well, I'm reviving this thread once again. I took the car to 2 different mechanics who really didn't want to dig into it. The one guy was suppose to be a sho specialist back in the day, but said he was too busy, and really didn't have the time to have it torn apart in his shop for a while.

On the way there, I got a couple codes though. 157, 189, and 211. I don't think I've seen the 211 with this problem though, but I'm probably just chasing my tail on these codes.
Any ideas? I may try replacing the injectors with some out of a loaner sho, but after that it's going into the Sho trader section on this forum.

So it's running lean and PIP error. So if it's a normal failure and you've addressed the MAF, I would look at the DIS and the PCM, and the injector swap would not be a horrible idea.

Yep, and I've swapped the Maf, and PCM without any change....time to check the injectors I guess.

Just for jiggles and laughs...Look directly under where the secondary runner vacuum canister is on the rear intake plenum. There should be a ********* QUICK DISCONNECT near and under it that is next to a GREY quick disconnect. The 8 PIN BLACK CONNECTOR is what you want. Unplug this connector and get a pick and clean all of the gunk from the female terminals. Slightly and I mean slightly bend the male pins inward to make better contact with the female terminals. It's kinda tight down there...the connector is just above the rear exhaust manifold. Once you do all this...please give us an update.
