what does this wire do

I was taking something large out of my trunk and accidentaly ripped a wire out of the connector. The wire runs with the wire bundle that goes up to the third brake light. But instead of going to the brake light, it goes into another connector and heads to the black box that is located at the back of the rear seat. What does this wire do because everything seems to work fine without it connected.

Sounds like something in the sound system, or the remote keyless entry. The RMK module and the amp/sub are hooked up back there.

If it goes up to your trunk have you tested to see if you remote trunk opener works. Sound like the wire from the keyless entry to the remote trunk release solinoid. If you don't have a remote try your door keypad, it uses the same soliniod.

does the keypad work to open the trunk even on a 92, i don't think that the 92's had a key fob did they?

I have a 94 but if it is the same type your code then hit 5/6 within 2 sec. You could also just run threw the key pad and see just incase it is different.

I had a 90 and the trunk worked off the key pad. the best car i owned, i loved the convience.

You can pop the trunk with a 92 on hte driver's door. I use it almost everytime I need to place something back there (like my shovel). wink
