After having the "wrong" year upper brake light, I have the correct year that simply clips up to the window.

I had to splice and direct wire it because the male connector on the LH side of the glass was missing. I had a light from a 2010-12 taurus. Mounts different, and the cover looks different. 2013+ are a simple clip on style as shown here. Also because I removed the mounting "clips" I had to figure out how to mount them. Thats where this strong & clear gorilla mounting tape came in handy. Holds up to 15lbs but this light weighs merely less than a pound. For a reference point on where the "clips" go on the glass, there will be two boxes that mark where they go from the factory. When I mounted them they have a "L" & "R" respectively. They also point rearward and are curved to match the glass.

If you ever have to replace yours if it doesn't work or in my case a window tint shop technician who tore it out and didnt replace it and i had to fix it. They tinted over the light instead of around it. Last two photos show how these clips mount.

Well.

Yeah.

Of Course?
It was a learning experience. I didnt think Ford would change the design of a light housing from 2010-12. Apparently 2013+ it was slightly different? But I have it mounted and it's holding extremely well. But also having to direct wire it so it at least works. The sole reason for that was a prior window tint installer yanked out the OG light and ripped the connector from the glass and didnt even bother to replace it. All to tint the entire window including right over where the light goes. Why would anyone want to block out an LED stop light required by law? No one would see it. If I ever do go and get this back windshield re tinted im gonna explain in detail to them NOT to take out the light to tint over it. I'll ask them to trace around the dot matrix to get the new film to adhere to the glass.
