Use a laptop to data log.

Ok? I’m knew you this, so how? I use to have a software that allowed me to datalog my Buick Grand National can’t remember the name of it and it’s been years more like decades since I used it. I think I still have the box, cord and CD to load it. AutoTap rings a bell but I’ll have to search my garage for it and see if it works.
Or can I connect my laptop to the SCT?

Your SCT handheld is a bridge between the laptop and computer. Download the SCT Livelink Gen 2 program from sctflash.com and load the config file Matt gave you and follow the on screen prompts.

So, I feel like it should be said that, it's probably best to be having these, what appears to be preliminary, types of conversations directly with the tuner, via email, PM, DM, IG ,messenger pigeon,, text or whatever method you and the tuner have decided upon to communicate with each other.

Although I know that this community is more than welcome to help and be supportive, I think you should give your tuner the opportunity to dial this in with you directly, to include what is specifically they are looking for in a datalog or vehicle behavior.

For me, personally, I wouldn't usually begin to reach out to the online forum community unless I began having communication issues with my tuner (either conflicting information or simply unable to reach) or I wanted to verify something that was a possible issue I had a concern about.

I'm probably going to come off as an ******* for saying this (I actually mean it with the utmost respect and appreciation that you think highly enough of this forum to ask us for our input), but I really think you and Matt need to be having an offline conversation until you either:

1) dial it in and you want to share how great and/or terrible it is

Or

2) you have hit a brick wall of some sort with the tuner and want to compare notes/share experience/verify

It doesn't sound to me that you've given Matt much of a chance to help you out before you've started shooting up a flare (sorry, ol' Army lingo...) for assistance.

Love you....mean it...

Like I stated a few posts ago, I didn't think it was the tune initially and for all I know it still isn't. I was here trying to troubleshoot hardware issues that may have been causing it, I pretty much checked everything as far as connections of boost hose clamps, vacuum lines, sensor wires and hoses, exhaust pipe hitting something. I never thought it would have been bad gas because it ran fine (actually it freakin hauled ass) the first night (Thursday) of the tune and prior to that on a stock tune (Wednesday) with everything (new perf parts) installed with the same 1/4 tank of fuel, then I refilled it Saturday and still ran the same.

Yes, I think Matt and I need to figure this out and hope we do. I will let you know the results. I got a few replies late last night and he thinks it's bad gas but I returned it to the stock tune and it is boosting more than it did before I tore it down to install everything. It runs great right now from what I can tell, I posted the one log I ran last night. I will take a few more later today.

Just FYI for anybody in the future reading this and for your own information, but going back to stock you are lucky you didn't have any extra issues. Upgraded turbos on the stock tune can cause some serious damage extremely quickly if you WOT

And WOT on the OA tune with the issues I'm having is OK? How should I be data logging? Half or less throttle? I'm waiting on instructions from Matt since I'm at a loss of what to do. I guess I will park it in the garage until I get this figured out unless it's ok to drive it lightfooted until then.

Thanks for everyone's help.

FYI, I never thought it had to do with the tune and still don't being he has tuned so many vehicles. That's why I got on here to see what I could have missed on the reassembly of the vehicle. But I think I checked everything over unless there are some other items to check. I have half a tank of 91 (all we can get here) in it, should I put a gallon of E85 in it to help if it is bad fuel? I can also try draining most of it and filling it back up at another station. Has anyone had to syphon their tank? If so, any tips or tricks?

I recently loaded a GH tune and had a lot of issues keeping my OAR below -.55. I tried Shell, BP, you name it all with the same results. I finally found another local gas station chain that has E85 and found that their 93 was better than everything else I had tried. After testing their 93, I started adding two gallons of E85 per full tank and I'm back to -0.96 and no knock at WOT.

Personally, I would run this tank of gas close to empty so its mostly out of the system. Fill up at a different gas station maybe half a tank, give it a bit to run the last bit of left over fuel out and you can start working on your OAR. If you see it going negative stick with that gas station. If you can't get down to -0.96 trying adding a little bit of E85 and that should do the trick.

Emailing me is the best correspondence and if you email me on a Sunday and Monday, I only usually reply in the evening Monday when I work on this stuff. Until we figure out why it is so unhappy with the fuel or whatever else is causing the low OAR and KR at wot, it isn't worth troubleshooting anything else that needs tweaking. StripSHO has some bug up his butt with me and tries to show everyone what a better tuner he is in all the forums to make himself feel better about the life choices he has made I guess. StripSHO has done nothing to further the platform, and only tries to find problems with what everyone else is doing.
I brought up the boost oscillation thinking there was a hardware problem somewhere. But that was quickly negated by OP reverting back to the stock tune. Nonetheless I would think it at least partially contributes to the problem.

I'm only trying to help people work through issues with their cars. I'm not the one starting these threads and it's pretty ****** up that you want to blame me that GH is the common denominator in most these types of discussions.

If my standards are too high and you're so threatened by me trying to spread those standards that you feel the need to make repeated personal attacks towards me, fine. I promise it hurts you way more than me. You're just deflecting and it's a little pathetic. But if your skin is too thin to handle public scrutiny of your mediocre products, then maybe you're the one who needs to re-evaluate their life choices?

I've been critical of Unleashed and Ortiz at times, too. Never once seen anything bad come up about Brad's work, but trust me I will criticize him just as freely if I see something wrong. Absolutely nothing I do on this forum is motivated by you in any way, shape or form. You're just too arrogant to see it any other way though.

just put 1.5 gallons of e85 on top of it. first thing I would do is find out what % your e85 is. you can buy a cheap ethanol tester off amazon for 20 bucks. You also can look at the long term fuel trims if it gets over 1.20 your a bit high on E

I'm waiting to see a stock log with our logging setup to see how it responds. He is in the base tune so I want to address the KR issue first before dialing in the turbos. It is interesting that with the stock tune the turbos are actually behaving.... This is not the norm.

I figured with them not being drastically different in capacity (especially at that elevation) that the factory PID loops were just doing their thing. But this is where my experience hits a dead end so if you say the stock tune should be wigging out then I again feel like there must be a hardware problem. Bad boost reference, faulty canister, maybe an actuator mixup? I’m just spitballing. But I’ll back out the way while you guys work it out

I ran a long datalog last night at variable acceleration, speed and throttle position and sent to Matt around 8:30pm but haven't heard back. It's attached, I would like to get better at reading these and knowing what to look for and what things I can look at on the car to correct my issue. Are you guys graphing some of the results to see how they are acting/reacting at time steps? Maybe someone could email me or PM what they are doing with the data and what to be looking for. My email is [email protected]

I think Matt wants me to wait on adding the E85 until he has a chance to go through the last log since he hasn't directed me to yet. I am getting somewhat impatient since I spent a boatload of $$$ and time under and over the car to install everything. I did mention to Matt that I had to buy a longer wastegate vacuum line for the rear turbo since the waste was clocked off by 180 and the stock hose was too short. I used the identical same size (dia) so it shouldn't have an effect. Hopefully he'll get back to me and have a game plan on what to do or look for.

Matt is top notch when it comes to tuning and customer service. Work with him and have patience..... Or don't and try a different tuner.... Or tune your own.

It's time to explore raw powah

Stock tune is seeing more than +2 even with the oar being close to 0. I suggested to try some better fuel once this tank runs out and we start over.

Will do, I’m going to try and syphon out what I can first rather than just trying to burn 1/2 a tank. I’m definitely letting the shell station know. What are the freakin chances of getting bad gas on initial tune? Only my luck can allow that. At least it wasn’t something I screwed up (I think).
Matt, I wasn’t intending on busting your balls for not replying last night. I’m just a little antsy to get my car straightened out. I’m just frustrated at the situation, not you, just the fact that I was so excited the first few runs right after I loaded the tune the car ripped. I just hope I didn’t hurt the motor doing all the datalogs at WOT.

Just put 1.5 gallon of e85 in to bring up the fuel oct in it and drive it normal and stay out of WOT and just run the gas out. If you're on a stock tune the car will run on 87 just fine
