I may have a right rear brake/caliper problem here.
For a coulple of weeks now I've noticed after driving for a while, usually on the way home from work, that it feels as if Im towing a load. So I jacked up the car and noticed that the right rear brake is sorta stuck. Wheel will turn but hard. This past weekend I did a little brake maint. lubed/cleaned up moving parts, brake pads are all OK. I thought this would help the sticking problem. NOT
What makes the calipers stick even after car is off. Need to replace caliper or is there a fix?
How do you tell the caliper is bad.?

Could be the caliper &/or slider pins if you didn't **** them, the flexable brake line, or the proportioning valve.

Could be a collapsed brake line.

Try this: have someone step on the brake. See if you can still turn the wheel. If you can, its not seeing pressure and probably has a collapsed line. If it locks like it should, sounds like a sticking caliper and/or slider pins. I assume when you say you lubed then you meant the caliper pins.

Did you have to push the pistons back in the calipers at all? You might try it to see if you can.

OK.....dumb question
What are the slider pins exactly?
I mean, Ive had these calipers off and on, I know them pretty well by now.
There isnt much to them.
The flexible brake line appears to be in good shape also....visibly I see no kinks, bulging or cuts.

The slider pins are inside the black boots and allow the inner and outer calipers to "float." Chances are that one of the rubber boots is cracked or torn and has allowed moisture into the greased slider pin area. If the rust is not too bad, you can get a "brake repair kit" that includes two slider pins and their boots for about $20 from Ford.

Yeah, my brake line didn't look bad either..but it's the part you can't see that did me in.

Sometimes (like in my case) a brake line will allow full fluid flow TO the caliper, but once the pressure is released, it collapses and traps all that fluid (and pressure!) back in the caliper.

I replaced both rear caliper brackets a few weeks agp. the pins froze on both sides in the rear. i shopped around and found the best deal for the brackets with the pins and boots at autozone. i don't remember exactly but i paid somewhere around 25 bucks for each side. not that expensive if you decide to replace the whole bracket.
