11's in '12 ; )
Hey guys, so I finally tried my 2010 SHO completely stock to the Napierville tarck here close to Montreal, Quebec. Temperature outside was in the 40'sF. The track coindition, mainly the box, was in poor condition... no cars was able to get out of it with good times... The new Stang 5.0 were running about 2.20 60 feet and 8.78 1/8... they were finishing the 1/4 at 112mph trap speed, but their time were not great at around13.25 sec.
I didn'T know until then it was possible to spin with the SHO, but it did a lot actually. I will soon post videos of a few run from inside and outside and we can hear it burn through all first gear almost and chirp for second.
So, the car, completely stock yet and with original 25K miles 4-seasons 20 '' Michelin ran the 7 runs between best of 13.538 and 13.750 sec. with best trap speed of 104.24 mph (realized on the 13.75 run). I was launching at 1500rpm brake/torque.
My best time slip reads as follows (scan copy and videos to come soon):
60 : 2.085
330 : 5.690
1/8 : 8.743
1/8 mph : 80.45
1000 : 11.348
1/4 : 13.538
MPH : 102.96
At Napierville April 8 2011 at 7h30 pm. It was actually my first run of the night and I had just driven 30 miles to get there at 70 mph and hit the track within 5 minutes upon arrival.
My second best time was realized almost at the end after letting it cool down for 50 minutes... it was still a bit warm.
So, I am more than pleased of the results and I can tell you that many guys out there were impressed with the car... especially that other cars had more traction issues than my AWD SHO... I passed in front of an SRT8 for that reason, a modified Cobalt with 24 psi 375 hp (finished at 13.71 but 109 mph trap speed), gotta love AWD.
I truly believe that with better tires and with glue in the box, my stock SHO could run around 13.3 sec.
But I guess I will never know because I will have it modified by the end of the month and the next time I will go to the drags will be with custom made CAI and a tune with SCT X3 with H&R springs... Heading for mid 12'S in optimal conditions.
SO, again, thanks for your previous advice, happy to have join this great forum and you will be able to see my videos soon... I will upload them probably on Monday (I think I left my camera cable at work...)
Cheers all and please comment...
