Hey guys, so I finally tried my 2010 SHO completely stock to the Napierville tarck here close to Montreal, Quebec. Temperature outside was in the 40'sF. The track coindition, mainly the box, was in poor condition... no cars was able to get out of it with good times... The new Stang 5.0 were running about 2.20 60 feet and 8.78 1/8... they were finishing the 1/4 at 112mph trap speed, but their time were not great at around13.25 sec.
I didn'T know until then it was possible to spin with the SHO, but it did a lot actually. I will soon post videos of a few run from inside and outside and we can hear it burn through all first gear almost and chirp for second.
So, the car, completely stock yet and with original 25K miles 4-seasons 20 '' Michelin ran the 7 runs between best of 13.538 and 13.750 sec. with best trap speed of 104.24 mph (realized on the 13.75 run). I was launching at 1500rpm brake/torque.
My best time slip reads as follows (scan copy and videos to come soon):
60 : 2.085
330 : 5.690
1/8 : 8.743
1/8 mph : 80.45
1000 : 11.348
1/4 : 13.538
MPH : 102.96
At Napierville April 8 2011 at 7h30 pm. It was actually my first run of the night and I had just driven 30 miles to get there at 70 mph and hit the track within 5 minutes upon arrival.

My second best time was realized almost at the end after letting it cool down for 50 minutes... it was still a bit warm.

So, I am more than pleased of the results and I can tell you that many guys out there were impressed with the car... especially that other cars had more traction issues than my AWD SHO... I passed in front of an SRT8 for that reason, a modified Cobalt with 24 psi 375 hp (finished at 13.71 but 109 mph trap speed), gotta love AWD.

I truly believe that with better tires and with glue in the box, my stock SHO could run around 13.3 sec.

But I guess I will never know because I will have it modified by the end of the month and the next time I will go to the drags will be with custom made CAI and a tune with SCT X3 with H&R springs... Heading for mid 12'S in optimal conditions.

SO, again, thanks for your previous advice, happy to have join this great forum and you will be able to see my videos soon... I will upload them probably on Monday (I think I left my camera cable at work...)

Cheers all and please comment...

Steve:woo-hoo:

lucky SOB LOL

my time was based on a hot run... drove there in under 2 hours to get there and if you can guess where i am thats pretty good with traffic ;) by the time we got there the track was going to close in an hour and our focus was a diesel truck running a new methanol injection tune

do you run with the spare tire? and how much gas? i had 3/4 filled with ontario Petro 94

steve i'll pm you the next time i head out there,

hey unknown,

I guess I had better conditions than yours, but still, the traction was poor due to my used tires, the cold weather and the track itself. I actually recorded a video on the highway (while the car was still hot from previous 2 runs) and I floored it from 0 to about 160-170 kph... or 100-105 mph and with rougher asphalt and optimal traction the car ran the equivalent at least half a second faster if not more!!! I wish the quarter mile track was on regular asphalt with no concrete slippery slab for a box...

That said, to answer your questions, yes I removed the spare (but kept the kids seats in the back... too much trouble for me) and I started the night with about half tank full of Petro 94(and that was when I had my best time).

Pls PM me next time, I d be glad to meet you and race with you...

ciao!

What tire pressure were you running? Actually the older tires might have more grip if they're worn. Since this is still a FWD design, I run fronts a couple lbs lower than rears.

Also, if you were spinning lots, run with T/C on. It's very forgiving. I have 60 ft times under 2. with T/C on even if track is slick & I weigh at least 400 lbs more than SHO.

I would die for some 40 deg air!

On one run Thurs nite, I ran against a built mustang conv. Was ahead at 330, he was passing me at 1/8 & he ran over 120 at the end!

Do you know what your coolant temps were at start & when you went thru lights?

hi bob,
no idea of tire pressure nor coolant temperature... good idea to lower air in front tires... i only ran with t/c off... i regret not having tried on.
one thing for sure, i was ahead all my runs until 1/8 (srt8, new stangs 5.0, modded cobalt ss...). even if not to be done (but we all do it when occasion shows up), our cars will pass in front of most cars from one stop sign to the other ... cool!
unfortunately, with 2 young kids, i cannot go to the track as often as i would like to... apparently today they are putting glue in the box for better traction... plus temperature in the 50's and with the sun to heat the asphalte... probably more forgiven conditions...
next runs, when modified... my goal : in the 12's, if possible 12.5... we'll see!
thx

That was 4 years ago or so. I live quite a ways from there, but you never know I may make it back again.

First time I was at Bradenton, they had put down so much dressing on the track, that driving up to the lights sounded like someone was squeezing cellophane! I actually thought something was wrong.....

Still dreaming of 40 deg air!!!!

Think you should be elated with your times considering you are stock with no performance axle ratio!
