I have looked at numerous articles on this but I still don’t know which way to go, money would not be the reason for the decision but I also refuse to buy a new set of cams from ford. Please help.

While admittedy I'm biased, welding is really the only way to go. The ratio of welded to pinned cars is probably 100:1.

Welding can be done in about 4 hours or so and costs anywhere from $500-$800 depending on where you go. Pinning would take about 4 hours labor to remove the cams, 5 more to reinstall them and retime the motor, plus the long time (could be 6-9 MONTHS) that you'd probably have to wait to get your cams back from SHO Shop, which to my knowledge is the only place which offers pinned cams. As long as you don't mind being without your car for that amount of time, I guess that would be OK, but when you add up 9 hours labor at an average of $100/hr around NYC, plus SHO Shop's $500 for the pinning, and you're talking at least $1400 for a cam fix that is LESS reliable than welding based on the failures to date.

If you feel like making a 2.5 hour drive north to central Massachusetts, http://www.nesho.com would be happy to weld your cams!

Mines been "kirked" or I guess it would now be "NESHO'D"....don't want to sound like the typical forum"er" but if you do a search, there is a TON of info on the board, plus V8SHO has some articles that may be helpful
