Well, I was in at the Ford dealership this morning getting my broken Front Sway Bar replaced, so while there I chatted with the owner and had him look up on his computer sytem the actual delivered weights of a number of 2003 model cars. Obviously there is some variance on particular models depending on the particular options, but on the cars we were talking about, these were the samples we got:
Mustang GT coupe: 3281 lbs.
Mustand GT convertable: 3436 lbs.
Thunderbird Hard Top: 3849 lbs.
Thunderbird Soft Top: 3752 lbs.
Taurus SEL: 3362 lbs.
These are the shipping weights from the shipping company for charge out, not the weights off the doors. In addition, out of curiosity, I had him look up a few more Tauri of various breeds and they were all in the 3300-3500 lb range. It appears that the Taurus no matter what guise is just not as heavy as car as one might assume without checking a scale.
