I can't find my tiny coolant leak by observation only.I was wondering if the top timing cover was off on my 95 atx is there a clear view of the possible gasket/o-ring failures that can happen on the water pump? i was thinking of taking off the cover and running the car just for observation purposes(to find the leak)The coolant is towards the front of a/c compressor on the bottom.Mainly i'm trying to narrow it down.Hopefully it's not my pump. There's no water from the top seep hole. Thanks for your help

That leak sounds like it is coming from the lower radiator hose as it curves upward aft of the A/C compressor to the water pump. How's you hose clamp?

hello.i checked out the lower radiator hose.near the upper clamp curving up behind the a/c it is completely dry.under the hose, more in the middle,on the bottom,it is wet.but it must be dripping down on to the hose from the beneath the a/c mount. It is really wet on the a/c bracket, where the bolt holds on the compressor at the bottom.I can't see how it would flow up from the hose to the a/c?The laws of gravity would make it flow or drip downward.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Follow the wet path upward to the source of the leak. The leak may be coming from a radiator end tank seal and blowing onto the A/C bracket. All I can do is guess, but you can see the trail. You must follow it to find the source. It does not sound like it is coming from the water pump.

It could be the waterpump gasket between the pump and housing, or even the waterpump housing gaskets or o-rings. There is a coolant tube running under the intake over to the waterpump from the drivers side. It is connected to the pump housing with an o-ring and it is nearly impossible to see unless you take the pump/housing off. Take off your pass. side tire and fenderwell. with this stuff off and the car jacked up, you will get the best look at what is there or where it's coming from without taking everything off to get under the timing cover... If you still cant see where it is coming from but it looks like it is behind the waterpump, it's probably the housing gaskets or an o-ring, if not the pump gasket.. Use a small mirror and a bright light so you can get a good look... iF YOU NEED TO TAKE THE PUMP OFF, GO TO THE PHOENIXSHOPROJECT TO FIND INSTRUCTIONS..

Get a paper towel, and dry everything around where the leak is. Then run the car up to temp, and turn it off. Run your fingers around the hoses (once it cools down) and see if you can get a better idea from there. My overflow bottle was leaking and it was dripping more on the opposite side of the car, which lead me to suspect it was an endtank. I ended up getting a pressure test, and they said I had a crack in my coolant overflow bottle (which turned out to be the culprit). If all else fails, go get a pressure test so they can tell you. Its easy to get lost under the car trying to find a small leak like that..
