Search didnt help..

Im confused about the whole amp bypass thing. Theres a harness you can buy that basically takes place of the stock 4 channel amplifier, correct?

Then this is where Im not exactly clear on something. In the dash, theres a amp bypass connecter also? Give me more info on this.

IF i recall all this correctly...

the speakers are dual wired from the factor...if you look at the connect for a speaker (the rear ones are easy to see), there should be 2 pairs of wires (or 4 wires) going into the connector.

one pair of these wires travels through the amp, the other pair just goes straight from the head unit to the speakers..

tucked behind the head unit should be the extra connector that runs straight to the speakers...

Did i get all that right?

circuit city never told my dad this when he got a new head unit and they bypassed the amp in his old sho, just charged him for one of those bypass harnesses...which i'm currently using in my car as it's stereo system is in pieces... *long story*

#1 plug is used for hooking up the HU to the amplifier. The amp in turn drives the speakers and subwoofer

#2 plug is used for battery power/ignition/ground, which I asume all HU's need and use

#3 plug is used for bypassing the amplifier setup and hooking up the HU directly to the speakers

#4 plug is for the redundant radio controls on the dash
