i just took out the aftermarket cd player that was in my car and swapped it for the original casette deck and it works great but the volume is all messed up. at full volume you can hardly hear it. before the swap the speakers were loud and normal so whats the issue.

Head unit, had the same issue. Does yours pop through the speakers when turning it up as well?

actually, with my stock unit it was the same, cranked up all the way was barely audible on the highway, but when we got the new stereo, I can't take it past 9 without the speakers rumbling..

Did you reconnect the factory amp? Sounds like it's bypassed from when the aftermarket deck was in.

What he said. If it was an aftermarket amp in there with the aftermarket deck, you're gonna have to disconnect that bypass harness for the factory amp. I'm assuming the aftermarket deck was hooked up to the aftermarket amp with RCA cables, which your stock deck can't use. Pull that bypass harness and reconnect the factory amp and you should be golden.

Everything is connected right. Your head unit is shot. Mine did it too, It makes popping sounds when going volume up or down but sounds decent on TAPE. When mine died I went on to the aftermarket.
