So I have taken my 12 SHO on a long trip of the US and noticed that some times I get an odd vibration that I can feel throughout the car at speeds around 70-80 MPH. I know the PTU has been a problem in the the past for some drivers, what kinds of problems did anyone notice about the car that pointed to it?

Could be improperly torqued lugnuts, bent wheel, bad tire, warped rotor, improper alignment, and if it goes away turning left or right, a bad wheel bearing. With AWD, there is also the possibility of a failing driveshaft bearing causing vibration. PTU/RDU issues have usually manifested as fluid overflow, whining or grinding sounds.

Where do you feel the vibration (steering wheel, dash, floorboard ...) the most, and did you have any service done just prior to the long trip?

I feel most of it in the wheel and the dash and the only thing I have had done is a tire rotation and an oil change in the last 2k. I will have to see about the testing for the wheel baring since I have seen a few posts about those being replaced. It does tend to come and go and only when I go for longer trips. I'll have to take it in if it continues to get worse. Thanks

The one other common issue (non-vibration-related) that I didn't mention is that the tie rod ends wear out on this Gen, so if you experience any play in the steering, or rattles/clunks, that is one thing to look for.

Might simply be out of balance tires which manifest themselves in that speed range. If you had a shimmy around 55MPH, most likely a worn CV Joint.

Good idea, though it should happen at any speed above 40mph, right? European version explanation:
This feature is in the 2014+ OMs, but only mentioned very briefly in the 2013. Nothing in 2012 & prior. So this feature was new to the SHO in the 2013 MY.

Well it only happens once I am at a cruising speed and it seems to be coming from the passenger front. I am going to take it in this week and see what the problem. I don't have the lane departure system since its a 2012.
