Does seafoam ruin them? It says there are three ways to use it. In the oil, gas tank and intank. I know if you use it in the oil you should get an oil change not too much longer afterwards.

I had an old engine that sat for awhile and high mileage oil seemed to help but just dont want to make it any worse

Seafoam won't hurt. High Mileage conventional oil will help. Stay away from synthetics if valve stem seals are leaking.

Castrol GTX high mileage . few oil changes with it did better on oil consumption that any additive honestly. Ran a 150k motor that was black as shit when I got it. 3 oil changes later with castrol when I did the valve cover gaskets could already see the HUGE difference it made .

They tell you to change the oil for two reasons, because SeaFoam doesn't really work as an oil additive, it's a cleanser, and because it gets a bunch of crud off the motor and into the oil. It's like changing dirty dish water.
