It's definitely an impressive build. One that I'd love to have.Oh boy..... so, the two of you had me questioning what I was told by the owner of the business (the 10k watt number previously stated, and to which I believed).
Now mind you, I'm no electrical guru by any means, so I decided to contact the audio builder himself.
He corrected me and said the actual system power is 5k (3k for the subs, and 2k for the mids and highs).
I asked why did the owner give me the number that he had when I picked up the car? He eyerolled and said in a round about way that he's the owner, and also a salesman. Salesmen inflate things. Kind of why I don't work for him anymore. Among other reasons.
Anyhow, I did ask about the factory amp allegedly being 500w. He admitted he didn't know for sure, but in his experiences (after having seen the factory amp when installing my set up) he said 500w is a BIG stretch. So not sure where to confirm that info? I did check my window sticker and it just says under the "Rapid Spec 402B" pkg that the factory set up was/is a "Sony Audio Sound Sys w/12-spk". But nowhere does it list wattage.
I also asked him if he kept the factory amp hooked up and what not, he said no, he bypassed it completely.
Umm, what else? Oh the amps he confirmed ARE RATED at 1k watts, but he said they always test out higher than rated. He recalls the 1530 number specifically.
So in closing, I was wrong. But in my defense, I was parroting what I was told. Which I confirmed was incorrect as stated above.
The whole point of me posting was simply to let the OP know that an aftermarket audio build is possible, and displayed mine as an example of I would some would say is more on the extreme end.
Anyhow, just wanted to get the correct info out there. Not trying to start an argument. Thank you both for questioning me. I too became (more) educated as a result. Carry on and happy motoring.

Honestly the 10K rating he gave you is probably right. And so is the 5K rating. The 10K would be the max rating. Manufacturers use it as a selling point. It's the # you hit just before the amp/speakers fail. The 5K rating is the RMS #. It's the one that actually matters...what the amp/speakers can handle for long times.
There's so many factors that come into play when wiring a stereo. For example, I have a 2K amp pushing a (I believe) 1K speaker. But those are max #'s that don't matter. What actually matters is how I have it wired, which is 500w RMS at 4 ohms. My amp could handle another identical speaker but I'd have to change the ohms (2 or 1 ohms - it's been a while and I can't remember) which would mean it's getting less resistance from the battery and could ultimately degrade the battery/charging system. The first stereo I ever wired used to dim the headlights at night every time the bass hit (old Honda Civic). The SHO handles my speaker perfectly. I've never had any power issues.
I noticed the extra battery in your trunk. He probably upgraded your wiring and possibly the alternator(s) to handle all of your power.
