heres a tip... use much better oil that stuff is nasty...

stay away from cleaners you stick in the engine and run it then change oil.
mainly because i dont see how kero can be good for rod bearings and seals and the like.. kero is way to thin to **** well. not to mention engine cleaners you run dont do crap anyways its best to tear down and clean manually that is if you have the time money and tools.

also what i did if you clean the intake... (learned this off area91) buy to filters for the intake vac lines one being a carb fuel filter for the vac line coming off the front valve cover and the other being a breather filter over the line that goes in the back of the throttle body (big bastard) on the end going to the throttle body plug it off with a hose and bolt or whatever...
this will help keep the intake clean a lot longer.. amazing how much sludge going back into the engine because of emission crap.

basicly the second filter i speak off will vent the crank case to atmosphere and when running you can see the gunk coming out of the filter that would normally go back into the intake and cause the gunk to build.

other tips many have spoke of already

well ive only done 1 oil chang on this car as of yet i puchased it in january and she sat for a lil while i used quakerstate high milage...right now im slowly cleaning all the carbon build ups i dont have a knock or tick from this engine at all and there is a new timming belt on it so im assuming that the timing and the valve shims were done because serious next to no noise at all but it seems like they decided not to do anything else when they did all that

one more thing my car is a black/black 92 so i was going to paint everything black but i want some accent under the hood as well ...so i was going to go with the blue couplers, blue plug wires and the new blue vacume line set from sho source and anything else i could get in blue....think it would look good?

Bring the "extra" Yamaha stickers to the KC meet and I bet you'll get rid of all you want . . . .

I like mine better!

post ******* FTW... :nut:

Seriously though, if you go to a sticker place, more than likely they'll have some sort of "Yamaha" sticker/emblem on file.
That's how I got mine done... it's vinyl as well.

Search on ebay for Yamaha Motorcycle badges and stickers, that's where I found mine. I though I was getting 12 of them, and ended up getting about 40. They ship from Hong Kong, and many other people have gotten the extra 'gifts' with their orders as well.

yeah im post ******* lol...ok during my research of past threads about under hood painting i got the impression that clear coating was a bad idea...duplicolor makes a high heat engine clear coat rated at 500 degrees anyone ever use it? if so how did it turn out

painted parts look really good. that engine will be sharp when you get it back together.

now is certainly a reasonable time to do porting, BBB mod, etc. -- although its a shame you just painted the stuff, might need touchup when you are done.

I used clear coat on top of the intake and valve covers (the 500 degree stuff) and have not had any problem. just put it right on top of the sanded intake and painted valve covers.

make sure to sand down the grounding points on the intake manifold.
at the crossover tube and the rear where the ground wire is located.
