My car is in the shop for this right now. It was hard to shift in/out of gears (especially 1st) and ground when shifting into reverse. The clutch was obviously not fully disengaging - in my case, the RPM's would drop slightly when in gear (at idle).
The Ford dealership told me that my flywheel is bad. The mechanic claims that there are hairline cracks around each of the (6) flywheel bolt holes. He said that he'd never seen that happen before on a SHO. Anyway, he said that the flywheel actually had a wobble to it, hence the clutch not fully disengaging. I told the service guy that I want to keep the old flywheel, just to be sure that he's not trying to pull a fast one.
To top off my woes, the clutch is about 2/3rds worn. So I decided to have the clutch and throwout bearing replaced so that I don't have to pay for all the labor again anytime soon.
Going through a dealership, I'm getting ***** to the tune of $1,300!
Good luck.
