I've had my 2013 SHO going on 2 years (153k miles) . Ever since I've had it, first to second gear shifts are usually harsh. The hard shifting doesn't begin until after everything is up to normal operating temp. The shifting isn't always harsh though. I've been getting an intermittent CEL for cat #2 performance. When the light comes on, shifting is usually smoother for a while. Sometimes it isn't. Also, shortly after getting the car, I had to replace the instrument cluster. Presumably because all data had been cleared, the harsh 1-2 shifting went away for several hundred miles.
Because shifting quality seems to change when there's a change in electronic operation, I'm going to assume that this is an electronic issue and not a mechanical issue.
Has anyone experienced this problem (or fix for it)?

questions - has the car have an active tune?
Was there any previous changes to the electronic transmission parts?
Have you reset the KAM? Keep alive memory - using a tuner device like sct or forscan?

Did you make sure the transmission is completely filled with fluid and not running a bit low?

Transmission is full with no leakage. As far as I know, all components are OEM. I recently started using Forscan. I will see about how to reset the KAM. If resetting KAM fixes the problem, what should the next step be?

So I am working from limited info here - so others might clarify. The Keep Alive Memory stores your fuel tables / shift points - many times right after your KAM is reset your shifts WILL be hard. However they will relearn based on your driving, this can be like 15 minute drive where you will want to drive city and highway speeds. DO NOT race the car - just let the computer gather your fuel and shifting.

This will rule out some type of memory of a previous driver - or maybe they tuned the car and their tune messed with shift points and you are getting the older info. Your transmission, shouldn't be banging from 1-2 or not smooth shifting unless programmed to.

Another method of clearing KAM, disconnect NEG battery terminal - place an insulator from neg terminal and car wire - jump the Positive - can be connected to terminal to the ground wire to drain the capacitors.

Wait 10 mins and reconnect battery.

Check the linked video.

are you doing any datalogging? torque management is a big deal on this platform, so tracking it might help shed some light.

A bit off topic but I have a 2013 MKS Ecoboost with the 6 speed AT. That TSB does NOT include the MKS? Maybe a miss print?

I thought that the MKS Eco-Boost was a twin to the SHO?
Surprised when I found the TSB as it also does NOT include the SHO? Maybe since it does include the Taurus that covers all models?

My '14 SHO was recalled and checked. So that TSB must include SHOs
