Ok I was doing the oil change and I notice oil on the front of the motor dripping from what seems to be a leaky oil pan gasket near the crank shaft...or an actual bad crankshaft gasket...

Keep in mind I am doing this on a car that is 1,000 miles over due on an oil change, and it had been run hard, so it's a little low. The check oil (the not-so-bad) light came on and I went to Wal Mart to buy the oil, then when I started it back up the light was off so it wasn't like it was POURING out oil just that it had burned some off over the 4,000 miles or so.

But then a 2" looking round gasket that looks like a camshaft seal, only bigger, or a crank seal that fell out right around the front of the motor as I was putting on the new filter. I look around and the crank seal is still in there, and it looks too big to be a cam seal...but I mean wtf?

Should I just assume it's from when the rod bearings were done and it's an old seal that was caught on the subframe for the last 4,000 miles or what?

ditto on the oil filter ring....it is probably from the old filter. **** the new filter with a thin layer of oil over the ring.

It is impossible for the crank seal to "fall out" of a sho.

Much less take a look and still see your crankseal in place, while changing the oil!

Yeah, I say it's your old oil filter gasket, too.

lol I should have thought of the oil filter...

And I know to put oil on the new seal ;).

I also thought it was impossible for the seals to fall off, that's why I presumed it was stuck on the subframe from previous work.
