My husband and I just bought an 89 SHO. We thought that the ignition control module was bad, but we replaced thta, and it's not the problem. We also checked the coil (that's good), reset the fuel shutoff switch, etc. The only thing that we can figure is that the crankshaft sensor is bad. Can someone help me out as to how long this job might take? We need the car ASAP. Maybe other suggestions to try if this isn't it??? Thanks so much!

With the help of forum members giving me constant advice, I was able to replace my Crankshaft Position sensor + timing belt + water pump + serpentine belt on my 1995 SHO. It took me about 5 hours to do all of the above. I did not rush through the job. Taking off all the pulleys and timing belt covers took most of the time (including organizing all the loose nuts and bolts-use ziploc bags). This forum can definitely help you do your own 60K + a whole lot more. I know this, because it worked for me. Good Luck...

Codes? You need to start with the codes... There are three links in my signature that will teach you how to do it with a paperclip or short piece of wire.

Start with the codes and address/replace components as necessary. For any no-start condition, you'll need to verify you're getting fuel, air, and spark. Does your tach register while you're cranking?

I'm one of those people who believe that just randomly replacing parts on some hunch or hope that the problem will be fixed is a waste of hard-earned $$$. Better to take a systematic approach to diagnosing and repairing the problem. For example, it would be a shame to pay for the parts and labor for a CPS replacement only to find out that a $5 blocked fuel filter was the problem...
