Hey, I was wondering (this is mostly for Toolman/Turbo guru's) if a VR4 turbo (same engine size as SHO) would be suitable for the 3.0 and if an 86-88 Porsche 911 Carrerra turbo would work on the 3.2 given you had custom made manifolds to fit one of each. I have the book Maximum Boost but I dont have the attention span to read it for long. Thanks alot.

I read it sometimes, but my brain doesn't like retaining information that much. I have to read it a couple of times.

It depends on how much power you want from the car. Do you have compressor sizes for either turbo? I'm not familiar with either of those turbos, but i think they are for 4 cylinders.
You can use the stock manifolds :thumb:
If you really want to turbo your SHO i'll sell you a y-pipe made for turbo SHO's :thumb:

Actually they are both 6 cylinders. The VR-4 is a 3.0L and the 911 is a 3.2L I figured having engine size in common you'd be able to use the turbo. As for the Y pipe, I'm only 16 and if I decide to do anything to a SHO it's going to be when I get a nicer one when I'm way older.

why these two, can you get them for free? If not use a 60-1 hi-fi or a 62-1 you can buy either one for about $1000 on the low end to about $1500 for fully loaded one.

Pretty sure the Mitsu Galant (sedan) VR-4 was a 2.0L 4-cylinder. The Mitsu 3000 GT VR-4 was a 3.0L twin turbo V6. Which turbo do you have?

As I stated before, the VR-4 is a 3.0L so it would be the 3kGT. I dont have these turbos but I know a place that sells rebuilt and refurbished turbos for cheap.

You should base your decision on airflow not necessarily engine size. The 3000GT was a twin turbo, if you use only one you will be choking off the airflow. Also, the SHO have 4 valve heads, a lot of other 3 liters have only 2 valve heads (not as much flow potential).

That being said, I have a good (low milage, no endplay) 300ZX turbo (older style, not the twin turbo version) complete with dump pipe and integrated wastegate, some used coolant and oil lines, and a new T3 ****** I would be willing to sell you pretty cheap (as far as turbos go). I will even throw the forum some cash. Send me a PM if interested.
