What are some symptoms of a turbo going out?? I don't smell oil, neither does the exhaust have a white color to it. It has a noise now instead of building any boost under load, it does just the opposite of that, and also makes a screeching sound.

If I knows how to upload a video, I would do so, that way you can better hear what I'm trying to say! Lol

Get your oil changed recently? Hope there's some oil in the engine, otherwise the turbos and likely the engine are hosed.

Should see a mess in the engine compartment/underneath if that is true. Most often, it is the rear turbo (next to firewall) that goes. Tightly packed, hotspot, etc.

I changed the oil myself about 4500 miles ago. Whenever I pulled down the plastic cover that acts as shield up under the car, the material in that was SOAKED with oil! The cover wasn't cracked or anything though, so I'm pretty sure I didn't hit anything. I'm puzzled as to HOW the oil leaked down there in the first place though. You would've thought I would've seen/heard something before now?!?

I'd say there is probably a quart or two of oil in the motor yet. Pretty sure the motor is fine. Just not sure about that rear turbo though. What exactly should I be looking for when I put it on the lift this evening??

You won't be able to tell 100% the condition of the turbo itself without removing from the car. But you can check for signs of oil seepage/leakage around the lines connecting to it (oil and coolant). If you take the pipes off the turbo, you may be able to get a looksee of the turbine & housing, see if the blades are coked and whether there's oil pooling inside. If you see oil pooling you likely have an issue with a blown seal in the turbo.

As to where the engine oil is coming from, not a clue other than the oil filter or oil pressure sensor (I think that is at the rear of the engine/firewall side?). You'd think that would be pretty obvious once the pan comes off ...

Ok, I found a pic of the oil pressure sender unit that bpd posted some time ago, looks like it is very close to the alternator ...

I only have a video of the turbo. It has 69k miles, and the mods is AEM drop in filter, newer style plugs gapped at .30, and a 3 bar sensor with a 3 bar tune. Only running 14-15 lbs max.

Upload the video to Photobucket or flickr etc. post a link back here, if you want. I haven't seen pics of a damaged SHO turbo up close, so I am really curious to see! TIA.

Wow, that looks terrible. At least it was the front turbo. The rear one is a complete PITA to change (I know from experience).
