Let me preface this by saying that I'm not looking to start yet another Livernois vs. Torrie thread. Now that that's out of the way...
The wife and I are expecting our first kid on Christmas (talk about getting cheated on birthdays!). She had a '01 Cavlier and I had a '12 Cruze. She said we need cars more suited to having a family. So, I'm picking up a new 2014 Ruby Red non-PP (went withe DA instead) on Monday:woo-hoo:. It has 401A, Nav, 20" low gloss wheels and Multi-Contour seats. The $5,500 in rebates plus $3,000 off from the dealer was just too good to pass up. She likes the trunk space in the Taurus and somehow agreed to let me get the SHO.
I've been reading about the issues Livernois had with "cold weather" on the 2013+ (40 degrees is still t-shirt weather where I'm at). I read one thread that makes it sound like they have all of the issues worked out. How about in -20F weather (you know, ACTUAL cold weather
)? Have there been any non cold weather related issues pop up or is it pretty solid now? I checked out EBPF a little bit, but didn't see any other issues.
The Livernois tune for the 2013+ says it is closest to the 4+ tune, which on the 2010-2012 page says *Use at your own risk* this is a more race oriented tune. I'm definitely not looking for a race tune. Are they working on something closer to a 3 or 4? I just want something that opens the car up a little more without scaring the wife and kid. It also still needs to be driveable once the roads get covered in snow. I have an 04' GTO if I want to go smoke some tires and do stupid shit, so I'm not looking for ultimate performance.
One last thing. From what I've read, Livernois was the first to tune the 2013+, but it looks like Torrie can also. Has anyone in any of the cold weather states had him do a tune on a 2013+? Did you run into any of the issues like Livernois had with cold weather or any other sort of issues?
Usually the thought of going back to work on Monday is excruciating, but now Monday can't come soon enough!
