Have a 2018 sho hit 100k miles this year. Took me forever to find someone who would walnut blast the valves for me all the Bmw shops turned me down. Bought a valave cleaner off Amazon. A shop called baker but garage off alta drive did it for me. Great guys they work on alot of imports but they did a **** of a job. Even had my wife's 19 explorer sport done last week. If you need this service in north florida hit them up.1000020169

Didn't realize that walnut blasting was a thing on the 3.5L Ecoboost. I've owned a couple of Audis that need the walnut blasting.

Most any direct injection engine without extra set of port injectors will need some sort of cleaning in that area. Mitsubishi and the German cars showed that issue early and often a while ago.

I recently purchased a can of Ford's official remedy for this issue: BG Platinum 44K. I have no issues that I'm aware of, so saying it works will be difficult to gauge. I'm heading out of the country for a while so it will be another month before I even use it.

Yeah paid about 250 for that service at 69k miles it does hardly anything for carbon deposits. The walnut blasting as you can see made the engine like new restored throttle response and my car runs smother an the rpms are lower at say 70 / 80 mph.

Uh, it's not a service. You dump it in the gas tank when you fill up and change the oil after the tank gets low. Reviews are something like 99% positive. Like I said, Ford and others have started using/selling/recommending the same product for GDI engines. We'll see.

Its a service at the dealership one bottle goes in the tank (like you stated) the other bootle through the vaccum port on the intake plenum they hang it from the hood. And they put some kind of digital reader that was strapped on my steering wheel an it pushed on the gas an held the rpms to i think 3k. It did hardly anything to my valves it may lossen or clean some carbon but walnut blasting is the only way to actually clean deposited carbon buildup. Within two months of that service I got my dual valve upr catch can with is the best.

Anything that you simply put in your tank isnt going to do anything for these motors. The injectors spray directly inside the cylinder. You could put God's personal all powerful never fail carbon cleaner in the tank and it still wont clean the valves because itll never reach them.
